Anyone know this guy? West of Ottawa,

I put private property signs, and a heavy chain across the trail leading into my property, along with a trail camera to see the happenings.

What tipped me off was someone had dug in 4 wheel drive, but it wasn't dug in as if they were stuck (flat-ish ground, and no skids) but rather as if the truck was tied off. He and his buddy started in orange, but obviously dressed down to get to work. overall spent 5-10 minutes ####ing around.

Trail cam captured these pictures.


Should I hold onto this? file a report? or just post the picture in the local hunting shop calling this guy out? Either way, If have troubles, I have his plate.

But part of me thinks filing a report, because if he has a history of this behavior, (stealing trail cams, or stands, etc) then it might encourage the police or ministry to talk to him.

Looks to me like he was going to try and pull my chain with his truck, but obviously it didn't work.

Police. No hesitation! You "may" have his plate! If not, the police will have a decent picture of the guy with the stolen plate!

Gonna say this too. Move, or get a few more, trail cameras in place, that are either out of reach, out of sight, secured, or all of the above. Just in case the dude is scum enough to retaliate.

But yeah. Police.

Good job on the chain, BTW! :)
 
that is one of the "cleanest" images i have seen recently of sketchy behavior. a full face picture, clear make/model of truck with license plate.

if i had to guess , this fellow thinks you blocked off a public trail, or somehow thinks this land is public...

OR B he is blatantly trying to break in and go steal whatever he can find.
 
Ricky is a long way from his trailer, was bubbles sitting shotgun?...seriously though if a guy wants to be a douche canoe then call em in. Not hard to find a guy with plates if your inclined to speak to him personally.

That is possible.

But I have visible signs.
And the online property maps are pretty clear.

Additionally, the trail doesn't connect anywhere, so it is impossible that he thought it was access anywhere other than a piece of bush.

And the camera did pretty well considering it is just a primos mugshot (the irony) $100 cam.

I will likely secure it better and more hidden... at least in an effort so it doesn't walk away.
 
-Absolutely Report it! Even if noting directly comes of it, it builds a file for future issues

Any chance he got stuck and was using the chain to free the truck? I mean if he was there for such a long time, he must have seen the camera? Maybe it was just an innocent act? Just saying, if he was truly doing something wrong, why not take the camera or maybe it's just hidden well.
Glad no real damage was done.
