I haven't harvested with the 340 yet, I had it out this past season on deer, bear, and sheep.

Just wondering what bullets are loaded in the 7mm RM and .30/06? Looks like moly.

340 weatherby

Hi all

I have used the 340 for around the past 10 years now. I have used it with the 250 gr bullets only in the Hornady interlock and the nosler partition. The game I have taken with has been white tail and around 1/2 dozon each of moose and elk. The load I have been using is AA3100, 88gr with the bullets listed above. Velocity runs around the 3000fps out of a sako 24" barrel. It has been a good gun but it does have some weight to it at around 10#.

Daaaamn that 340 weatherby magnum is a huge bullet ... a friend just recently got this rifle ... so I wanted to see what it was like as for bullets as he said it was a good long distance shooter and big azz'ed bullet ... ;)

I have used the 340 for over 15 years now...1 shot is all it takes and i have hit any thing from coyotes up to moose. Mine is built on a remington action and handles like a charm. Off the bench you know you have touched a round off but in the field you dont notice it at all.

One of the moose i hit with it was at 250 yards or so and when the bullet hit home he went 3 feet straight down.I was using 250 grain hornady soft points and it was a perfect heart shot, but when we gutted him his tenderloins fell right out in 2 perfect pieces.....talk about energy to spare....I love it...by the way i fireformed cases out of remingtons 300 wby brass, way cheaper on the pocket book and it does one hell of a job on a gopher...never had one run away yet...:D:D
