Are all Semi/Pump shotguns prohib?

Post 1 asked a question.

Post 2 answered that question.

... and then dozens of more posts, mostly nothing to do with the op's question... which was answered...

It's worse over on HBC though...

No, semi and pump shotguns arent banned. yet. Some specific models have been prohibited. Anything bigger than a 10 gauge is banned, and the 10 gauge might be (as well as 12 gauges with changeable chokes), as they wrote the law pretty badly. Even worse than their normal gun law drivel. - dan

I think you may be right...being in the "British commonwealth" countries, we seem to be getting hit with similar policies. Can almost envision that they overall goal is to turn Canada into the Australia, UK, etc.
I dunno , from what I read u can still get a whole variety of firearms in Australia they just require specific licences and u gotta just through extra hoops to get em but u still can

Really ? You sure ?

Nobody can be sure of anything. The Libs and their UN cronies want to disarm population..they want ALL gun banned. Thats their objectives.
For the OP, instead of asking questions, enjoys what you can buy now, that is offered for sale. Buy what you want and need.

That question can easily be answered by himself by looking at shotgun for sale. Plenty of semis.

After 5 min of research ..... (yes only 5 min) ..... it seems that pump action shotguns are not banned in Australia!!

Firearms categories:

"Category C
Pump-action or self-loading shotguns having a magazine capacity of 5 or fewer rounds and semi-automatic rimfire rifles up to 10 rounds. Primary producers, farm workers, firearm dealers, firearm safety officers, collectors and clay target shooters can own functional Category C firearms. In Western Australia, Category C shotguns may be owned by sporting shooters who participate in practical shotgun competitions. However, this is generally limited to second-hand shotguns."

Yup, proving your point. They aren't coming after our guns or hunting. Nothing to worry about. All is good! :bangHead:

Much like the fine print in our gun laws, the rules in Australia have resulted in massive decreases in guns and gun ownership and use. Why some here argue against that blows my mind. So stupid.

Oh, and tell us some more about un-ethical bow hunting.

This picture is perfect for anyone who believes the Liberals and NDP when they say, "We are not after your hunting rifles and shotguns.". Make no mistake: they absolutely ARE after them. Just look at all that walnut, and you have your answer.

Yes, the picture IS perfect. They ARE coming for them. ALL of the guns in Canada.

All we have to do is just watch Heidi Rathjen and her bunch of Witches when they tell our "Gobermint" what guns they want to be gone - one gun after the other. Slowly. Consistently. Persistently.

Medvedqc, I have no pretensions to know what the future will hold ..... and you might be right ... who knows .... I only know one thing:

The actions we take today and now ... will determine the future and what is going to happen in the future.

Complaining and #####ing on CGN will change nothing .... I hope we can agree on that one?

(except maybe for converting a fudd like me)

So, what are people doing that might change or determine the outcome of history?

some are voting cpc lol ... the best is everytime you can is challenging decision made and not listening to gun orgs ...

And when I do a 5 min search for gun laws in France ...... it becomes clear that hunting with a pump action shotgun is perfectly legal in France.

"Category C:
Generally-accepted hunting weapons in France. Manual operation long guns with a capacity of 11 rounds or less, semi-automatic long guns with a capacity of 3 rounds or fewer. Pump action rifled shotguns with a capacity of 5 rounds or fewer are within C category, as long as they have fixed stocks"

Canvasback ... in what countries has hunting been made illegal?
Please share ....

As far as I know ethical hunting is still a legal activity in most countries .... and ethical means .... hunting with a gun .... and not a bow or spear ... or some other primitive device.

So, yes we can argue if pumps will be banned ..... but I guess we can agree upon that single shot rifles and shotguns will be around as long as hunting is considered a legal activity.

p.s.: So in what countries is a pump rifle or shotgun banned? And in what countries are they still legal?

Countries where civilians are banned from owning firearms:
Brunei
Cambodia
Comoros
Eritrea
Fiji
Guinea-Bisseau
Maldives
Marshall Islands
Myanmar (except for Chin people)
Nauru
North Korea
Palau
Seychelles
Solomon Islands
Somalia
Timor-Leste
Vatican City / Holy See

This is from: https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/countries-where-guns-are-illegal

Then there are countries where firearms are very restricted, to the point where you might as well consider it impossible to legally own a firearm. But what is your point? Do you think you can legally hunt with a gun in every country in this world? If that is what you believe, you are very wrong and we are quickly heading in that direction here too.

But this image from wikipedia probably makes it a bit more clear:

you re dreaming if the pump actionshotgun are not to be banned one day ...

In the UK most shotguns are limited to only 3 shells, any shotgun that can hold more than 3 shells is classed under a different and much more restrictive use and ownership category.

That is why you will mostly only see single shot, SxS's and O&U's and you will seldom see anything like a pump action or other type of shotgun in use.

Also other types of shotgun ammunition besides bird shot, such a solid slug, can only be bought following the granting of a sperate Firearm Certificate (FAC).

In the UK, shotguns are limited to a permanently fixed magazine capacity of no more than three cartridges or shells and are only legal with a valid Shotgun certificate and meeting the basic safety requirements for firearm possession in the UK.

Prohibited Firearms in the UK

Part of what makes the UK’s gun laws as strict and effective as they are is the restriction of many types of firearms, otherwise freely available in many other countries, and getting a gun license in the UK is not very easy.

No matter the intended purpose of the guns listed below, they are all considered illegal and possession could lead to lengthy prison sentences. The following guns are totally prohibited by UK Law:

Fully automatic or burst-fire – this includes airguns

Semi-automatic or pump-action rifles which fire centre-fire ammunition

Cartridge ammunition handguns, regardless of calibre

Firearms disguised as another item (such as a mobile phone or a walking stick)

Rockets and mortars

Any firearm which is designed or adapted for the discharge of any noxious liquid gas of other substance. This normally refers to stun guns, electric shock devices, tear gas, pepper spray, all of which are classified Section 5 Firearms

Air guns chambered for self-contained gas cartridges (example Co2 cylinders). If an existing owner has had one prior to 20th of January 2004, they are allowed to maintain ownership subject to obtaining a firearm certificate

Firearms which have previously fallen into a prohibited category, but have been since converted to an otherwise permitted form. This could be, for example, a pistol or handgun which is adapted by permanently fitting a 60-centimetre-long smooth-bore barrel to it does not just become permitted and is still prohibited.
