6.5 x55 Swede Vs 6.5x 284 Norma

Ok Boys ! 6.5 x 55 Swede VS 6.5 x 284 Norma - Whats your preference and WHY ? Do NOT wanna hear about the 6.5 PRC or any others - KEEP to the title Please ! Thxs RJ

I AM a 6.5 Cal fan - i OWN a 6.5 Grendel - 6.5 Creedmoor - 6.5 x 55 "AI" Swede - 6.5 x 284 Norma - 6.5 PRC

NOW does any one have a Super Swede as I call a 6.5 x 55 “ AI “ ? RJ

Please read post # 1 ;) RJ

I did read your initial post. But… you edited to add that you own other 6.5s (which wasn’t there initially) and then brought the AI into the conversation in post #14. Which goes against your own wishes for the topic in your first post.

Invariably when a this Vs that comparison thread comes up, variants are always going to creep into the conversation at some point. Especially given the amount of 6.5 variants we have avail to us.

Asking why not go to 6.5PRC over the AI version thus became a relevant question...

All Good BUD. :) RJ.

My 6.5 AI is close to the 6.5x 284 ;)

Not trying to deliberately hi-jack, but how does the 6.5x284 compare to the .264 Win Mag?

The 264 win Mag is a Good performer just above the 6.5 PRC so it’s got a bunch on the 6.5 x284. BUT your BURNING Up more powder to do it - and more recoil !
264 WMag is same cartridge case as the 7 mm Rem Mag . I shot one for years then went back to the 7 RMag because if much better bullet selection .
In the 70-80-90 s 6.5 bullet selection SUCKED ! RJ

I like the 6.5x55 better because it functions a little better (feeding is better). Performance is close to the same otherwise. I currently own and shoot the 6.5 Creedmoor, the 260, the 6.5x55, the 6.5/284 and the 256 Newton. Honestly, the 6.5x55 still does as well as any of them. In a FN Mauser action, like mine is, it fits great and feeds flawlessly; only the Newton works as well.
