That's the kicker. When you make private sales now, you're legally supposed to confirm the PAL of the buyer. You don't need to tell the RCMP what you're selling them, but you're supposed to make that call.
If they come back and ask you when you made that call to validate the PAL of the buyer (they keep records of it) and you can't provide it, it makes it look like you sold an NR without following proper procedure, subjecting you to what ever penalty is on the books for doing so.
So if they ask you when you sold it, and they can't match up a date/time when you called to verify the PAL of the buyer, you're again, SOL.
