Brazilian Mauser uncrating videos

Crate full of money.

I remember when those first started coming into Canada.

Lever Arms and Robinson's out of Victoria brought in 100 crates between them.

I didn't get to see the invoices but they went for sale at both stores for $85, with all accessories.

That seems like a steal now but back in 1967 that was more than a weeks take home pay for the average Canadian plebe.

The days of awesome surplus are pretty much gone sadly.

Well that's random. Didn't expect to see my face on a YouTube video on gun nutz today haha.
I'm at work right now and can't recall if it was talked about on the video.
For those wondering how these were found and why they were left unopened for so many years. A small town hunting store I was visiting on vacation had a pristine 1935 on the rack. Knowing how desirable these rifles were and having multiple people who would want one I finally got out of the owner that there was in fact 2 crates of them.
Way back when these were common and having the sense to know how desirable they one day would be, a group of buddies purchased 2 crates as investments. It was coming up to where one of the gentlemen was getting up on age so he decided to cash out his share. This is how we managed to purchase crate #1. The rifles were unboxed and sold to locals in the area. I still have the crate as a coffee table and a rifle that continues to bring me wins at the local military rifle shoot.
Few years later one of the guys talked to the gentlemen at the store and managed to get crate #2 which you see here.

cool which fella are you in the video

Is the CCFR latest video stating these are now prohibited?

It, along with the Ruger1 and others are listed under the engery section. It appears they are reffering to those that break the 10,000 joule limit. So the standard 7x57 1908 wouldn't be affected. Regardless, it's all quite silly. Who's going to take their 416 Rigby on a crime spree? Makes no sense.

I am assuming that they mean to target the 10k+J cartridges, but I don't see anything that actually limits it to just them.

Much like 12ga shotguns w/chokes before, I think they've ####ed up. (And they included a definition for where to measure a shotgun barrel, which feels like an admission that they ####ed up before. )

Really, because they don't refer to any calibers or specific FRT numbers. How do you think the average judge or police officer would view the list?

It's confusing. What's the difference between a Brazilian 1908 and any other 98 Mauser? They are exactly the same. Looking through this latest ammendment, I'm seeing alot of what looks like mistakes. Hopefully they will offer some clarity. Although I can't say that I care that much anymore.

They just threw everything they could onto the list, without knowing anything about what they were doing, other than pushing their ''ban all firearms agenda''

They also list "Mauser sporter" which is obviously not a specific model and can be loosely interpreted.....so that also seems to suggest they referring back to energy specs. I dunno.
