Loose front sight

The front sight on my 10/22 easilly slides side to side under finger pressure. What can I do to keep it in place?

Remove it, very lightly tap just the two edges of the dovetail down ever so slightly, & re-install the sight is one method.

Don't forget to use some Locktite.

The other solution: Remove the sight. Use a small centerpunch to make 4 dimples in bottom of the flat of the dovetail. They do not have to be much of a dimple either. This will last much longer and suffer far more abuse than taping the edges of the dovetail down slightly.
