"An aftermarket, non-factory, add-on that does not void the GLOCK® warranty

Nobody in their right mind buys a Glock and than installs an AFTERMARKET SAFETY.

I buy and like Glock because there is no external safety.

Nothing says stupid like buying a Glock and than hacking the hell out of the frame to install a safety.

I dare you to try and find a LEO that has one installed.

Ok, I apologize to the gun gods. My glock 21 has not yet arrived, I assumed it had a safety of some nature. I suppose other than some aftermarket addons, I was wrong. It'd still be sitting in the night stand chambered and ready to go, if someone is going to use sleep gas on me, I'd be fracked anyway, I'm more concerned with moron crackhead than I am with Lex Luther.
And no I'm not the guy from the video, I talk clearer, and my first wheelgun will be the Ruger Redhawk in 44mag. I have, however, taken pictures down the barrels of my guns, it really isn't hard to do, it's not like I need to hold the camera in front of my face while I take a picture.

Keeping a gun for self defence does not mean "having a loaded gun lying around the house".
It means when the gun is loaded it is under your direct supervision.
LoneRanger, there are stages of sleep where you can barely function if awakened suddenly.
If it was legal, a loaded gun, round in the chamber, would be placed in a place where anyone who wanted to get to it would have to crawl over you while you slept.
When you're awake, the LOADED gun would be on your hip, or strapped under your shoulder.
IF it was legal.

Humm, a new darwin-award was about to be given :slap:

This time it may just be aimed at a camera, next time he'll invite his buddy to "lookit the shine" and "lookit the barrel" while "lookit when I press the triggut" who knows what could happen...

Please explain what you are trying to say....Because lots of people in the US have a loaded gun in a drawer or glove compartment...

It shouldn't be accessable to anyone but you. I am all for defence with a firearm but you can't risk having it used against you or having your kids get hold of it.
The rate cars are broken into in urban areas I would not leave a gun in my glove compartment unless I was in the car with it.

Hey Spartan, thanks for the link to the video. Very insightful about the idiots out there.

Let's all get back on track. This guy post a video playing indy film maker, on the pretense of "educating or informing" viewer, but is only bragging about his gun. He did not need to have it loaded for that. He did not load what should be dummy rounds if he was going to show how loading and ejection worked on a revolver. He did not do that either.

He holds a what, cellphone camera, on one hand and try to manipulate a loaded handgun in with one hand, probably a weak hand. I don't care if he was perhaps pointing at his camera and not his own face. Any live bodies behind him, a picture window into the street, we will never know. This is not a proper demo to promote the basic rules of gun safety, and he makes a video to post on the world wide net.

He said nothing about home defence and whether he sleeps with a loaded gun. Let's not even give him credit for that.

So why is the gun loaded to start with? Perhaps to show us what the cartridge looked like, he had to get one one of a box.

This is an idiot trying to get attention with a home made video,(Jackass 3 ?) giving bad ideas out there to adults and youngster who view this about how to treat a gun, having it loaded for no demonstration or self defence merits, and giving us owners and shooters a bad name. He does not deserve our benefit of the doubt, or sympathy if he ends up as victim of an accidental discharge. regards to all.

Guns don't go off by themselves....

I have slept wiht a loaded firearm within reach, many times, and I'm still around;)

Yup, you're right. Thinking deeper about it if i were to be legally allowed to and lived in a bad enough neighbourhood to warrant the need for sleeping with a loaded pistol by my bed, and I lived alone with no fear of someone touching it I might. I know house alarms aren't perfect but chances are you might be the only one around with one. Unless you own something of worthwhile value chances are a thief will break into someone else's house thats easier.

My inherent distrust in the situation would be the fact of someone potentially being able to use my self defence weapon against me (like the age old saying: if you're going to pull out a weapon, you'd better be fully prepared to use it first in the case its used against you).

Now, back to the video, I fully agree with Johnkwok's post and I think he summed it up very nicely. LR

I also do agree the guy's probably not very bright, and certainly needs more experience handling his new piece. But honestly I guess I'm just so desensitized to Youtube stupidity, that he seems tame in comparison. It occurred to me after my last post, that if I were to take 10 minutes, I could find 10 vids not previously posted here, where people do stupider things. Search for "homemade" and "gun" if you want a head start.

I had some drunk bastard trying to bash his way into my house @ 4am in the summer... I guess he thought his friend lived here, but he was 2 doors doors too far north  Anyway, my point is that I was up, out of bed and into the safe within 10 seconds.

If you don't have 10 seconds to spare, chances aren't good that you will have the time to spare to get the gun out from under the pillow/drawer and point it, anyway. I don't live in a neighbourhood /city where I think it would be necessary to keep a firearm LOADED under my pillow/ in a drawer. And if I did, I would probably just move. But I definitely support YOUR right to do so if that's what you want to do.

Just a tip for those with mechanical safe locks and thinks they are too hard to get into in an emergency.... anyone who ever worked in a bank should know this... Some people call it "daylocking"... Before you go to bed, dial your combination and after your last number, dial right until it stops (as usual). Instead of opening the safe, dial back to the left 10 digits and leave the dial there. If you try the handle, the safe should NOT open... However, to unlock it, you only need to move the dial back right till stop... Technically, the safe is still locked, but it makes it very quick to open in an emergency. However, I wouldn't leave the residence with the safe still "daylocked". FYI if your safe is the type where you must stop exactly on your last number, this won't work... You can try stopping 10 digits short of your last number, but hitting exactly on your last number with adrenaline flowing will not be easy.
