Interchangeability between Winchester SX3 and SX4 stocks?

Hey guys,

I have a SX3 that was a gift celebrating me getting engaged and getting hired into my career.

It is the 3.5" chamber with the duratouch synthetic stock. Unfortunately it has that sticky stock recall. In order to have it warrantied I'll have to ship the gun to USA which I am not comfortable doing.

So I am looking for a replacement walnut stock for this discontinued gun.

Does anyone know if there are any compatible stocks from other guns? I know some Brownings were very similar to the sx3 and the new sx4 seems like the exact same gun with minor tweaks.

Does anyone know if there are any stocks that would fit because OEM winchester sx3 walnut is apparently nonexistent.

My other hope was to buy a second sx3 and cannibalize the stock from it.

I had my Sticky stock replaced by Browning Canada. I didn’t send my shotgun anywhere. They asked for serial number of gun and that was it. I simply changed out the hardware on the original to the new and voila! My 12 year old SX3 was all new again. If you have problems I still have my old one that you can have if you’d like. Cheers Chris

Not sure where you got the info about sending your gun to the USA but that is incorrect

The gun needs to be sent to Browning Canada who will then ship it to their primary or secondary armoury, who will disassemble the the firearm and send the components needing repair to their camo vendor for a a strip and dip. Turn around time is 3 months minimum.

Would it not be cheaper to just take it to a good hydro dipping shop and have it redone instead of buying a new stock set?
That's exactly what browning does anyway. Support a local shop and have it back in no time

The only warranty from what I was told is the stocks and nothing else. Metal wasnt finished or affected the same as the synthetic parts. This is just what I was told but my new stock was in hand in slightly under 3 weeks. Im only relaying what I was told. So grain of salt?

Its only the stocks that have the Duratouch finish that need to be stripped and dipped. I assume they want the whole gun to disassemble to ensure a proper match is achieved with the stocks, barrel and receiver. Not sure, but thats just my logical guess. A 3 week turn around time is respectable. Browning told me on October 17th that its a three month wait. The lady went as far as saying to send it in after hunting season ends so that there isn’t an impact to my hunting season

Hey guys. So the info came from Winchester. The whole.gun would be re-dipped if it was camo to ensure the stock matches the reciever. My gun is not camo it is the grey/ black.

My other option is for them to send me a new tupperware plastic stock. But if I install it it will (somehow) void any future warranty on the gun. This again is straight from Winchester.

Thanks for letting me know about shims. What about the forend? Maybe I can cobble together a stock an forend from sx3/ sx4. There still seems to be some sx3 walnut butt stocks out there. But the forend is just nonexistent.
