Remington 870 availability

There’s an ejector and rivet’s on the ee, no spring though.

Did you see the price? Pretty steep for a part that used to be $25 plus the rivets. Clearly a reflection of the current lack of supply. I also believe that it’s 2 3/4”. If I’m going to replace it I may as well use the 3” ejector.

Yeah I saw it, if it’s the only one available then you might be paying more unfortunately. It always sucks to be on the buyer’s side of the supply and demand issue, maybe with RemArms making new 870’s you’ll start seeing factory parts come available again.

This is the reply I got from Gravel when I inquired about Remington spare parts recently ....

Looking at a used 870 right now. Looks like an Express, but there is no marking on the receiver, ie. Express, Wingmaster, Special Purpose.

3" chamber, 28" barrel, comes with one choke that I assume is Remchoke with tells me it is likely an Express.

Any thoughts?

Does it matter? All the receivers are functionally the same and you can swap out parts to get the configuration you desire.

Man I love the look of that wooden shockwave

I have a 30+ year old Express and the finish on it has been very durable. That gun has not been babied in any way. It hasn't been treated as hard as Beeron's 870 but it has been banged around and dragged through the field more than a few times. The finish is just fine. I don't know what it is exactly but it still looks great 3 decades later.

Oh, and like Beeron's 870, mine has worn several different barrels and stock sets and it has been 100% reliable. Part of me would buy another one but this one still works so reliably, I can't justify another.

Yeah I agree, my express guns have been flawless regardless of manufacturing era’s. I’ve tried to get the finish to rust but it’s still looking great, it lived in a soft bag for a couple years just to test the rust theory. Imho the matte bluing holds up fine, wipe with an oily rag and dry it properly after it’s been cut n the rain. Zero issues in 4-5 years of constant use.
