QBZ 97 in Canada?

A friend of mine thinks that the QBZ-97 is already selling in Canada. Is this true? Any Canadian dealers have this yet? Any of you Nutz own one yet?

Lever Arms in vancouver has the type 97 that I think your buddy is referring to. $1450 seems pretty pricey for that, but to each his own...

Barrel length is likely the issue.

Semi auto with barrel shorter than 18.5" = restricted.

The Tavor Barrel is 18.9" or something... either way, LONGER than 18.5"

I think there are 5 that have the long non-rest barrel, the rest are short restricted length barrels.

This is exactly what the non restricted one that I've played with looked like (QBU 88) but if I remeber correctly it also had type 97 stamped on the side. The receivers looked identical.

Technically the KBU88 is a totally different animal when compare to the Type 95/97...... basically its operation system is a scaled-down and bullpupized version of Type 85/SVD.........

You are right
........but one of the non restricted models that was showed to me wasn't just a standard type 97 with a longer barrel like for example the vz58L is. This one looked like the QBU88 with no carrying handle a quick detach scope, side charging and clip on by-pod. I thought it was the 88 but like I said before it had type 97 punched on the side. It was also referred to by the owner as type 97 sniper and like it was mentioned before the price was …..well not cheap. ..... 97 rear 88 front should of had my camera

The Type 97 Sniper Rifle is basically the 5.56mm version of KBU88.....
