Had yesterday a blast with my .357 Dan Wesson I recently purchased.
I felt never very comfortable shooting a pistol but now I'm really hooked. Right away I had pretty good results even with magnum loads. Some ole shooting fellas at our local club in Dartmouth (AMA, Tuesday is handgun night) gave me good advice. Thank you! All I can say is buy a handgun and join a local target shooting club. Everybody should try that once in his life time!:)

Cheers

Your thread title would look great on a billboard!

Glad you joined us, and are having so much fun!

I concur, in general, with all of the above.

As my signature says, I believe in promoting the popularity of the firearms sport and continue to do so when and where ever I can.

I have introduced many people to firearms who were totally ignorant (often in the negative sense) and given them a totally new outlook on firearms and those who own and shoot them.

Some have even gotten into the sport and ended up surpassing me in terms of their collections and level of involvement.

In fact, some of them are member of this very website.

In fact, it is they that brought the existence of this website to my attention (go figure).

THE MORE CANADIANS THAT OWN FIREARMS OR ARE SYMPATHETIC TO THOSE THAT DO, THE BETTER OFF WE ALL ARE, FOR SO MANY OBVIOUS REASONS THAT NEED NO EXPLANATION HERE.

Umm, handguns are bad news people. If there was a ban then nobody would get shot anymore because criminals obey the law! I am off to crush my glocks now...

I fully agree. I just moved to a new city, and even before searching for hockey etc. teams to join, I started looking at gun clubs to join. Now I've just got to get the wife involved.

Howdy Martin. I shoot at the AMA too so maybe we'll run into each other. As you probably know there's general handgun shooting on Saturdays at 1 PM as well as Tuesday night. It's my preferred time since House League resumed on Tuesdays in the upstairs range and the lower range gets kind of smokey. (I was asked if I wanted to join House League but I figure it's because they need somebody to come dead last :) )

My situation exactly.

I have taken a lot of friends and family to try out shooting. I have a SA .45 and SAA .45LC for handguns. The Negative Nellies who are "Why do do you NEED a gun?" at first are "That was so COOL!" Now the trouble is they're burning up my ammo' supply without chipping into the fund! Bastards!

House league doesn't last very long, so by 7:30 the upstairs range is usually open again, and you might want to consider trying it. I did a couple of years and was both humbled by the ability of the fellas who've done it for a while and I learned a lot about sight picture, trigger prep, breathing and precision pistol shooting. The only reason I don't go now is I commit to opening every Wednesday night for the IPSC crowd, and I can't really do two nights a week.
