FOC creditcard fraud?

Hey FOC!

Just a heads up that there's some interesting reddit finger pointing going on regarding credit cards being compromised shortly after purchasing from your store online:

https://www.reddit.com/r/canadaguns...ndroidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

May want to triple check that you don't have a compromised system or employee.

EDIT:
I'm on the list of people who were hit. I had made a purchase in the summer and a month later had a compromised card.

Are the problems from ordering online? or buying in-person at the store? Pls advise. Thx.

Some great suggestions to protect yourself! But you could also just not shop at FOC. Easiest solution obviously someone is doing something they aren’t supposed to at the company level if there are this many complaints going on for this long. It’s been months for christs sake.

Has FoC made any statement on this issue or radio silence ?

Something does not add up here. When I went into the store they had hired two new kids to help with inventory so looks to me like things are running bau there. My account was hacked after they announced they were breached. At this point the entire website should be #### down because there will be people purchasing who have no idea they are STILL COMPROMISED RIGHT NOW...

You can change all the info you want but when you make a purchase your credentials get stored in the transaction history. They said the visa portal was hacked so at best your name,cc #, postal code are leaked and at worst they have your Name, full address rpal # , email and phone #.

I called the bank and told them to remove the fradupent charges and you know what info they used to authenticate me? My name, date of birth and my postal code. The hackers can easily call my bank or god knows what other business and claim they are me or you.

This is bad. This is very bad and don't listen to these shills here who make you think it's no big deal.

They are selling your credit card info and I can promise they're making a bigger list. Criminals now know there are firearms in your home. Breaking into your house just became 10x more feasible for any criminal to get this info.

WELL DONE FOC. You have a huge #### storm coming your way lol

What does having some students doing inventory counting have anything to do with this?

That’s what Was said but people jumped on FOC in defence.
Credit cards being opened in peoples name
Emails being hacked, sims being swapped.. multiple people saying someone was able to change their bank password and empty their accounts.. why the #### some people defend vendors I’ll never know. How much more proof does someone need than hundreds of separate accounts?

These idiots think some foreign entity hacked the credit card processor…

Your pal. Your email. Your address. Your phone. Your credit card and anything else you provided is compromised. Is on the dark web and is being used for nefarious things.

As of current status, I strongly recommended that anyone who has dealt with FOC over the past 6-months or so to get a credit monitor service from Equifax. It costs about $20 a month (first month free), and not only does it give you a comprehensive credit report, but also it monitors all the credit related activities under your identity. It costs a peanut comparing to what we have been spending on firearms/ammos. I cannot emphasize enough how importantly it is.

I can confidently say this FOC ordeal is way more than just Credit card information leak, it's about identify theft now! Criminals probably have all your personal information now including name, address, email address, credit card, date of birth. With all this information, it's pretty easy to open a new account online, change the mailing address, all type of scary things.

And I know FOC is not going to do any damn things just by looking at their behaviour here. I also strongly suggest anyone who has read this thread to this far boycott FOC.
Do yourself a favor, $20 a month is nothing comparing to the potential headache, and you can cancel it anytime.

Credit monitoring alerts
These alerts are always on. We will alert you if any of the following occurs on your Equifax credit report.

New hard credit inquiries
New deposit account inquiries
Name change
New collection accounts
New accounts
New bankruptcies
New or changes to public records
Changes to existing accounts
Change of address

It is unfortunate we have to do this ourselves because FOC is not going to do anything. Protect yourself, identity theft is very scary and it's already happening.

F--k FOC is understated curse. F--k FOC anyway.

Be careful the dip####s will accuse you of slander.

I hope every person defending FOC slips on ice and bonks their head.

Does anyone really think it’s ironic that this happens now? As the liberals have dealt a death blow to firearms retailers ?

When weed was in a grey market and there was online sales, when a retailer did this it was called an exit scam, they see the writing on the wall so they cash out before hand.

Does anyone know how far back the security breach goes? I made a purchase pre covid from these guys but haven't seen anything fishy.

In October of 2022, we were informed by VISA that there was a security issue on our website resulting in the fraudulent use of credit cards that affected up to 200 clients spanning a four-month period prior.

Allegedly June is when the issues started according to FOC but who really knows at this point.

Sometime in November that crooked president of FOC made a statement saying Visa in the beginning of Oct notified them the security breach back as far as 4 months. That was roughly about starting May/June this year. So from the time Visa informed them until he made the statement here it was about month passed. And he did nothing and actually they even ran through a bunch of big promotions including Black Friday one.
To be honest I think probably he wouldn't have done anything if this thread had not come up.

Am I going to trust anything from the mouth of that piece of shlt? of course not. Visa may have told him it's 6 years affecting 2000 clients, and he covered up with 6 months and 200 clients story.

I replaced all my credit cards, hardened all my email accounts, notified my banks to set a verbal passcode when dealing with withdraw transactions over $100, ordered a credit monitoring service from Equifax. I am going to be on high alert for the next 6-12 months at least.

Yeah I find it hard to believe that with all the handgun panic buying that only 200 orders would have been affected...

the silent speaks for itself ...

Absolutely. Did they even have a Black Friday sale? I feel like a lot of people would have forgiven them if they'd just have had better communication (or any, other than that pathetic apology).

Several months ago I also had some weird $0.00 pending authorization from some place in the USA, can’t remember where or what exactly as it disappeared and was never posted. I had used the card at various online sites (Amazon, FOC, SFRC, tenda, etc) and in person, so not sure where the potential breach happened.

One other thing I hadn’t fully connected to this… I’ve also been receiving robocalls from some organization called “credit bureau of Canada” or similar, apparently located in Mississauga. One day I called back and gave the reference number from the robocall, and apparently there is some “business matter” they’ve tried mailing me about, but wanted me to confirm my address before discussing. I refused to do that and they became angry and hung up. Still get robocalls and voicemail but I ignore them.

I checked my TransUnion consumer disclosure (the free one they’re required by law to provide) and there’s nothing I don’t recognize, but guess I should do the same with Equifax too… can’t be too careful.
