PRIMERS at 500 per K

ARE people really paying 500 per 1000 for large rifle primers or is this just greedy guys hoping to cash in.

It's that whether people are paying it or not.

If I bought a brick of primers for $60 2 years ago, I'm not selling them for $500. IDGAF what the market looks like, that's just a greasy thing to do.

@$$holes being greedy is all, but one day karma will bite them in the ass

You need to take a look at reality right now.

There will always be people taking advantage when it comes to profiteering.

If you had several thousand primers that are excessive to your future needs, would you sell them off for LESS than it would cost to replace them??? NOT LIKELY

People are paying what seems to be outrageous prices at this point because nothing else is available to them and if they want to continue their endeavors, they will either pay what it takes or they will give up their sport, or maybe put it on hold until prices come down.

At this point, if you wanted my primers, the only way you're going to get them is pry them from my cold dead fingers.

I could care less that you want them cheaper because I purchased some of them for under $20/k when I bought them in 5000 box lots so I would have a large batch of consistent primers for certain rifles.

You snooze, you lose and that's the way life is.

Blaming "someone else" ????????????????????

I agree with you, supply and demand in effect. But 5 times the price is a little ridiculous. Personally I have enough primers to last me a while and I am not in the market, but when I see that I paid roughly $80 per 1K when they were really hard to get and people want $500...

People are free to ask any price they want.
People are also free to shop for a better deal or do without.

I have 9,000 sm pistol primers and 6,000 lg pistol primers at home. Do I need that many on hand, no. Will I part with them for what I paid for them when I bought them 3 years ago, also no. I just don't want to part with them. If someone offered me $500 a brick would I take it, ok probably yes... and I don't feel that makes me the bad guy.

Buddy that uses my loading equipment phoned the other day saying he found a brick of SP Federal for $200. yesterday he brought them over and they are a "Red Box" brick that I haven't bought since before Y2K so the seller probably bought them for $25-35

There’s a difference between someone offering you $500/1k and you posting them for sale at that price, one makes you a db the other not.

Last month I bought 2000 cci SRP off a guy I know for $115/1k, more than I wanted to pay but still fair considering the a availability/price of them retail. I know he was making $5 a brick which is fine by me, would I still like to be buying them in unlimited quantities for $60/1k or less? You betcha, hopefully we see a correction in price and supply sooner than later.

I do see where you're coming from.

I've been in situations where a four liter can of gasoline was selling for one gold Krugerand and the same for a 1kg bag of rice. When things get desperate????

Good on you for having the foresight to stock up while you could.

You're giving us a "one off" example, which isn't really relevant to the real market. No diss intended.

In the real world, people living in out of the way regions rely on purchasing from someone willing to "ship" components and the hazmat costs as well as the frieght costs will usually more than double the price of the product, especially if it's just one 1k sleeve.

Depending on if it has to come air freight the price goes up from there.

I have a few hundred large and small rifle primers from bricks bought in the last century. A couple of years ago I was going to put them for sale at a gun show but never got around to it. They have been kept dry for years and still go bang every time so I am going to keep and use them. I have them in a big gallon pickle jar with a bag of silica gel that gets dried out if needed.
