People are being told that RPALs are being rejected by the RCMP

Yeah, Rod Giltaca said a friend of his messaged him something similar recently and said the RCMP told him there'd be not much left to buy with an RPAL. Not sure whether that specific RCMP person was mistaken, but C21 ain't nowhere near law yet and it would be really disturbing if the RCMP has received orders already to not issue RPALs/Restricted due to what MAY happen.

I am hoping that's not the reason why cards haven't been sent out as of late, and that it is indeed printer problems.

Would be good to see updates from those who were recently approved (like in the last week or so).

FSESO is still running restricted courses as current as this weekend in Ontario, so I would presume it is business as usual. https://fseso.org/product/canadian-restricted-firearm-safety-course-crfsc/

I don’t know how true that is.
I’m a first-time PAL/RPAL Ontario-based applicant. I mailed in my application on November 1st. According to IWS, it was received on November 4th
My credit card was charged on December 5th
On December 6th, IWS informed me that processing had commenced (I’m paraphrasing)
I checked IWS each day this week.
Just a few minutes ago my IWS status changed. It now informs me that my licence has been approved and I should contact them if it’s not received in the next two weeks.
This forum has been a tremendous source of information and support. Thanks, guys!

Wow. That has to be one of the quickest approvals I've heard yet.

Congrats. Now you're like me and just waiting for the card to come in the mail.

Next task. I’m going to do what some other posters have suggested.
Call in and see if someone will give my license number and expiry date and use those details to go online and buy myself a semi-automatic firearm or two ASAP. Just in case the printing and delivery of the physical card is delayed and the list of prohibited firearms is dramatically expanded in the next few days.

You can do that ??? I have my pal numbers....does it come right to your door ? ...do they need to see your card On delivery? ....( pal still in printing room )

Posting this to make others maybe feel a bit better as well as vent a bit.

Renewal Application Received February 13, 2022
CC Charged February 13, 2022

Current Status: "We have completed the initial review of your firearms licence application. If additional information is required, you will be contacted. Please check the status again at a later date."

I am absolutely livid that I still don't have a licence. I got ahold of someone at the CFO office a few months ago, and they essentially told me "just bad luck."

Anyone have any suggestions on anything I could do? This is now well-past the 6 month extension period so I can't even go to the range or anything that I'm paying to be a member at.

Yes, You can order online. Coming to the delivery part, no they do not need to see your physical PAL card. The courier guys don't even know what's inside the box.

Well it's definitely not going to get expanded anytime soon, decent chance it all gets scrapped.

I hope you’re right. But there were also a good number of people who thought that the handgun ‘freeze’ wouldn’t happen.

This is not true. CPC MP Dancho, indicated after she was ejected from the HOC that the Liberals have since expanded the amendments list of included firearms.

Remember the Liberals have the votes to pass this, thanks to the NDP and the Bloc. The SECU committee chairman is a Liberal. All the SECU witnesses are Liberal sympathizers. There is a chance this will get scrapped, but I wouldn't categorize it anywhere close to "decent". The Liberals are experiencing more pushback than they probably expected. It is encouraging to see developments that the AFN unanimously voted against this. Hunters in Liberal/NDP ridings are expressing their disdain. At least one Liberal MP will vote against and Michaud of the Bloc who is on the SECU committee has expressed her concern.

None of this, however, prevents the Liberals from simply ramming this through

I wasn't aware the liberals further expanded the list.

I try be more optimistic as of late, as opposed to being miserable which I have been to one extent or an other for the past half year with my unique circumstance.

There's is the rumour of an election this Spring as you know.

Well this was highly unexpected
