Options for a non Restricted black gun.

Well technically it is an assault rifle by defenition, which could be considered a 'black' rifle with a synthetic stock :D

Well, actually it's not. The M14 is a long way from an assault rifle.

Assault rifles have the following properties:

#1. They fire an intermediate cartridge such as 5.56X45, 7.62X39, 6.8SPC...you get the picture.

#2. They are fed from a detachable magazine.

#3. They are capable of automatic fire.

The M14 is very definitely NOT an assault rifle. Even the AR's that we purchase are not truly assault rifles. While the AR's we buy look a lot like M16's and M4's and C7's, ours aren't capable of fully automatic fire. (you buggers that have access to happy switches at work keep yer yaps shut;))

Calling our rifles "Assault weapons" plays right into the hands of Windy and friends. They want to cloud the issue with verbiage that's been calculated to inflame public opinion and scare people who don't know the facts. Their definition of an "Assault rifle" is anything that look black and scary...don't dignify that politically oriented generalization by repeating it. You should know better.

forgot about the intermediate cartridge... heh.. your right, sorry. But yea, the M14 does have select fire though and fires from a detachable magazine. I wasn't referring to the M14s, or the M1A or the M305 ;P

Select fire M14 is still not an assault rifle.

I never said it was in my last post. I said that I thought it was because of it being select fire and a detachable magazine, I admitted that becuase it did not have an intermediate rifle cartridge it was not an assault rifle.

Nice , i like the looks of that. Anyway , there sure isn't a lot of options for non restricted rifles. I like the tavor and the swiss arms. Both big bucks though. Start your gun fund now........I just started one . I thought about the tavor , but i think i'll get the swiss arms. Heck , maybe eventually both.
