Mossberg 590 QA issues?

Hello,

I recently purchased a Mossberg 590 Camo from FOC online.

Upon delivery I inspected the firearm and found bare metal gouges inside the reciever and the entire ejector and ejector screw missing.

I contacted FOC who wrongly directly me to North Sylva for warrenty support. Wolverine Supplies is actually who handles Mossberg issues.

I'm about 2 weeks into the emails with WS who have ordered a ejector and ejector screw but have said the gouges inside the reciever are normal from the factory?

Is this correct?

The firearm has a parkerized finish and if these are infact factory stamping marks this seems like a major flaw as the bare metal is now exposed and will now rust prematurely

Maybe show a picture of the gouges that you’re referring to.

I had a new 590 a little while back with a burr in the edge of the bolt that was gouging up the inside of the receiver when the action was cycled, I contacted mossberg in the US and they said “it’s normal, internal parts are not deburred, shoot it and as long as it functions it’s fine”.

I took a stone to remove the offending burr and all good although I wasn’t too pleased with their acceptance of pretty poor quality I can’t argue with the function.

For reference this is what I found

Thanks for the reply

That looks like a nasty scratch on yours. Amazing thats ok by their standards. I get it shotguns are durable but it shouldn't be wrecking itself like that because something wasn't deburred.

I'm new to the board so I can't upload pics directly yet.

Heres a link to a pic of the inside of the receiver - https://postimg.cc/gxs6t3Nv

I also received an email from Wolverine Supplies this afternoon with a response from Mossberg saying "This is normal and well within guidelines. The receiver will not be replaced"

I guess shipping the firearm out without an ejector is also "within guidelines"

Pretty ####ty QA if you ask me.

Yeah I agree with you, but the Mossberg’s are a fairly budget gun that they’re churning out to sell as cheap as possible, or rather with as much profit as possible. They seem fine to cut corners quality fit and finish which is unfortunate but that’s the trade off they’re making.

To be fair though function has been 100% and the wear is internal so not a big deal to me.

With the current price they charge though I’d expect better, but what can you do except to vote with your wallet, Benelli makes a pump with some more attention paid to quality fit and finish…

Missing the ejector is totally not acceptable though how that got out the door, I assume wolverine will be sending you the replacement for that though?

The good news is the aluminum receiver won't rust.

Mine has a couple letters stamped in that area, but does not have those other small marks.

I wouldn't be concerned about them, it's pretty sad it was sent without an ejector and screw, makes it hard for them to say it was test fired.

The good thing is it's a gun you can get parts for, and the warranty depot is Wolverine, they are very well run.

WS will be sending out the parts as expected. You're right though. It's a cheaper shotty, so I guess I can't expect too much.

You're right about the aluminum, good point. Once I found out the ejector wasn't there I got hyper critical and was looking for every little thing due to it clearly not going through proper QA. Just looking forward to receiving the parts so I can start running it.

Just wanted to update this thread incase people have problems in the future.

I was told by WS a few weeks ago that waiting for my ejector could take "months" to receive. Totally unacceptable. I then called FOC all heated and the gentleman quickly took my info and sent me out an ejector probably from another 590. Crazy it took so long to correct but its all good now.

Nice that you got the part on the way but UGH holy crap I sure hope you didn't pay via credit card with FOC they have a major credit card fraud ongoing.
