My buddy and I went out for the last time this year with the pups and as usual they did well. We lost one bird that fell in a large cattail slough despite looking for a good while. Shortly after the picture Boone took off into some willows and pointed another bird which we subsequently got. A good day.

I put a homemade foot prep on that pretty much stops it, once in the morning then one after lunch. It's been a good year for the two rascals and I'm starting Boone's force retrieve over winter.

The homemade foot prep sounds interesting. Site members with Brittany and Setter dogs would probably like to know what you use if you are comfortable with adding it to this thread.....Just an idea.....

Here it is 2 oz olive oil, 2 oz coconut butter, 1 oz shea butter, 4 tsp beeswax, and 5 drops vitamin E (optional). Put the ingredients in a small pan and heat till it melts and mixes then pour in a container and let it cool. I add quite liberally to the paws ( the harrier the more I use) and it lasts for 3 or 4 hours before its needs to be reapplied.

Any troubles with snowballs on paws and legs ? They both look ready to go find more birds. Nice photo, thanks.
