If I was coming out with a new great? 1911, I would have milled the slide for open and /or RMR sights, as that is the rage these days , and I like them, thou I can shoot as good with out one.

Ya I wouldn't be tempted by another bog standard 1911. Wondering if Savage even has enough brand cred to capitalize but i guess the us market is pretty big.

On the other hand, CZ is finally starting to distribute the DWX which would be little more tempting.

Front strap texture, nice. March grade barrel, nice. Flat face textured trigger, very nice. CZ grip angles, very, very nice. Rail, meh. Square trigger guard, meh. Front serrations, meh. Ambi safety, no thanks. And what in the hell is that bar that runs externally across the rear serrations!? :p

Made it just under the wire and picked up a MINT Ruger Hawkeye with scope, a Ruger mount and 2 1/2 boxes of Winchester factory ammo. Acquired a set of dies, but I'd still like to 'find' 2 or three more boxes of factory ammo. Give me a shout if you know of any Winchester 256 Win. Mag. factory ammo.

That is a neat calibre. Wish I had a conversion barrel in that for my Coonan. But yes, factory ammo is definitely rare.
