Walnut M1A's stocks available from Boyds

Just ordered mine from Boyds. The lady I spoke to asked if people had been emailing / passing the word around up here in Canada since I was the 5th order so far today! Explained to her about CGN.

Thanks Grizzlypeg!

FYI M14 woody lovers....Ardent has a (refinished, no visible cartouches from pic) USGI wood(unknown but comes with all metal) stock for $60 shipped on EE.

Weird,

I ordered a stock for a Savage 110 from Boyd's and the lady told me about 2 months ago that they had sold all their M-14 stocks

What about Wenigs (w w w .wenig.com/), anyone tried them ?

They distinguish between M14 and M1a. My first choice would have been one of their laminate m14 stocks. I'd asked about m14 stocks as well, and were told there were none. But now I just discovered they have these obsolete m1a's.

Will Numrich Gun Parts ship to Canada?...I am not too sure about this, has anyone dealt with them recently and had their order shipped promptly?...

Thanks.

You'll need an import certificate for any M14 parts.

It takes 4-6 weeks to get an import certificate and about 2 months
to get a US export certificate.

Yes, you are correct in stating the obvious...on Numrich's E-Gun Parts website, most if not all parts we want for our Norinco M14s' are labelled as "M14" parts, subject to the restricted export list and requiring export/import certificates...what I wanted to know is if they will label them as M1a parts and will they ship to Canada, all legally of course as the M1a is a sporting rifle and not on the restricted commerce list...I'll just give them a call and ask some friendly questions, then try to spend some money before my #### falls off!!!

I am somewhat confused, I ordered a Op Rod Spring Guide from Brownells in December and it was delivered no problem. The invoide states it's a "State Dept. Regulated Part" with a comment printed at the bottom that states "These commodities are authorized by the US Gov't for export only to Canada, for use by Busta Capp. They may not be transferred, transshipped on a non-contiguous voyage, or otherwise be disposed of in any other country, either in their original form or after being incorporated into other end-items, without the prior written approval of the US State Dept."

The shipment went through, no problems, and the invoice clearly states "M14/M1A Op Rod Spring Guide". So, some parts are deemed ok by the State Dept. I guess. There must be a list of restricted parts, rather than a blanket restriction.

The part you ordered is a M1A part. The restrictions apply to (real) M14 USGI parts, incl trival little parts with no markings like USGI M14 oprod springs and FB stocks.

USGI parts that can be put into M1A are treated as M14 parts.
I'm waiting for some parts from them. Talk to Renate, she is their "international
sales" agent.

Thanks Grizzlypeg!

I'm one of them, she asked about the cold when I said I was in NB (weather reported cold snap) and I told her it was -27 (Jan 25 lunch time), she freaked.
I haven't even cleaned the cosmo or fired the m14 yet  but aesthetics are important to me too as it will be joining an M1 carbine and garand, and I don't want it to be the ugly brother.

I'll probably be posting looking for hints on mating the stock if I can't scare up anything, I remember seeing an article on the garand boyds mating and there was a chance of s fair bit of woodwork. I hope it can be done without specialized tools as I'm not well equipped that way :p

... and thanks for the heads up, Grizzlypeg even though you pushed me further into the red... :runaway:

Stocky's has some kind of $20 Customs paperwork fee now which brings their price to $95. I ordered from them today anyway, because when I went through the process of starting an account and placing my order with Boyds the order was rejected for being Canadian even though it was under the $100 mark and their site noted the $100 exemption. That kind of thing pisses me off, and it's worth $10 to me to give the sale to someone else, with all their ducks in a row.

Sounds like you are best off calling Boyds and making the order over the phone.

Probably true, but right now my satellite link is working better than my cell-phone. Being in the middle of nowwhere in a blizard has a few drawbacks, besides the obvious one.;) Actually I'm just happy to get one at all, and this thread got me there.:dancingbanana: $10 is a small premium to pay to, you know, prevent my #### from falling off.:D

I'd been trying to get a decent wood stock for some time, and no one from the states wanted to ship me one. I'm hoping the Boyds stock will live up to my expectations. I'm really happy with the Target / Varminter laminate I'm working on right now. My first attempt at pillars and bedding. The pillars went well, the bedding I'm on my 2nd try at getting it right.

If you can avoid UPS the $10 premium will be more than made up for anyway. Are they the same stocks? I thought Boyds made and sold only their own.

I got my Boyds shipped USPS when I requested no UPS (I've been burned by them before with a border charge). But she said something about USPS only being done through air mail, so I might get a bigger charge than UPS even. My manager brought a customer into my office right thenso I just tied the transaction up with no further questions asked :slap:
