Yup, AR10 for sure.

I was in Texas a while back and two of the guys I met hunted wild hogs. They had fully decked out AR10s with thermal scopes etc.

Not in disagreement with your statement .223 is probably fine for 99/100 shots, but I personally wouldn't take any chances with hogs. They have proven to be one of the most deadly animals on earth to hunt. When 6 of those things weigh 250lbs plus and start charging, I am not about to start skipping .22's off skulls. That's why .300 blackout and .450 bushmaster are popular hog rounds.

On another realistic note, I'm surprised those guys didn't shoot one another. I know the rush came on suddenly, but they should have moved into a group (crescent) defensive shooting position from the beginning of the onset.
I know it's not possible to do without drill let alone discussing such a maneuver with the hunting party ahead of time. It just strikes me as being completely unprepared for the potential of just such an attack when you are in an area known for feral hogs. I'm told those Boar tusks will open a person up just like a knife.
 
I am thinking an AR-10 is the ticket here, (the 308 is a fantastic all purpose round & you can stay on target for followup shots)

1) I am in ontario & a 223 is not considered sufficient for deer, so I sure as "shootin" would want as much punch as possible with wild boar.... It is as dangerous and deadly a predator as any meglomanicaical WEF oligarch.
2) You need semi auto, and be well equipped with additional mags, and have the skill to rapidly change mags under pressure from a fearless, organized and deadly "prey" maybe some training in "defensive positioning" as already mentioned.
3) Wild boars can attack like pack animals, as per this vid, a bolt action is inappropriate considering the speed of this animal, as well as say "bears" (bears dont come at you in packs)
4) Anybody tasked with regulating or writing the regs for firearms needs to have substantial expertise and commons sense. Currently and on a global basis we have never had such quantities of inept morons at cabinet levels. Obviously this is by design.
5) All considered, this is exactly why "gun control" is all about "control" and public safety isn't even an observer in the discussions of the oligarchs who have co opted so called government.

22 gauge;)

A 12 gauge semi with slugs or heavy buckshot would work too but you'd need god like quad loading skills (like this guy)

Just write an OIC banning wild boars in Canada ! Duh !
Best way to keep everyone safe !

Nor take a step into the woods outside your managed urban concrete utopia. All wilderness will be a preserve off limits to the likes of you who might upset its delicate eco-balance. And natural resources come from grocery stores and recycling depots. Yes, lefties think that way,
