Turknelli test

Makes you appreciate actual quality wow. This is my 9th waterfoul season shooting my versamax and an occasional sx3. Over 2 case of ammo, most through the versamax. No issues. A drop of a good clp on each bolt rail and 1 on the mag tube of the sx3 is all the maintance they had. Run like a Swiss watch.

I wonder if the people here that state their Turkish shotguns work flawlessly are just pretending because they are ashamed or because they have their toys on EE and don't want to lose their money, or even if they really got a good one.

I've got a Mossberg SA-20 that I've had for 10+ years, zero issues, and 1000s of rounds through it. Everything from skeet, to upland, to waterfowl.

I also have a Mossberg Silver Reserve II in 20 gauge...zero issues, had it about 5 years. Needed to have lubricant added to the trigger groups, as it was shipped dry, and had a sympathetic fire...fixed, GTG, had about 5 flats through it so far.

I also have a Girsan MC312 in 12 gauge. Inertia action. Used everything from 2 3/4" target loads on the skeet field, to 3 1/2 BB for geese. Zero issues and hiccups.

Not all Turkish guns are created equal, and it pays to do some research.

There are lots of manufacturers in Turkey doing work for other gun makers ( Winchester, Weatherby, etc)....

Of course there's lots of POS shotguns that have been made domestically as well ( Remington 887 anyone?)

I’ve had two versions of the M4 knock offs and both were garbage. Complete waste of money in my opinion. Got talked into an R4 by the importer in Edmonton and it turned out to be an even bigger turd than the one I had before it. Buy a 1301 or save for a real M4.

I was looking at this R4 by Revolution armoury. Not the same dealer but is this the same R4 you are referring to?

Got a Canuck and it eats everything. Tried everything I had in it slugs, 2, 4, bb, even Cycles target 7.5 handicap loads. The ghost ring sight is bull#### i'll give it that, otherwise nothing bad to say.

Was going to ask about the differences between a odell Canuck operator & the Daly (850$ vs 499$) I think this thread answered it I guess

And EVERYBODY gave me grief and attitude when I said years ago this Turkish stuff was Shiite.

Bah either i'm lucky or it's factory dependent... Got also a zigana sport with thousand of rounds thru and beside magazines availability I got nothing bad to say

So i got my R4 impact a couple weeks ago. First time to the range it wouldn't feed the next round. It would hang up on the lifter. Spoke to the dealer who told me to get in touch with the manufacture first, which I did. The manufacture told me to make sure the gun was cleaned so I took it apart to " clean : but it was already spotless. Next trip to the range and same thing happened. The round would hang up on the lifter. After a few more calls I was told to call the rep for Ontario. Explained to him the issue and he seemed to think the issue was with the whole trigger group as the lifter was a part of the group. He told me he would send me out a new trigger group and I received it a few days later. Upon opening the package I could tell it was not a "new " trigger group. It definitely had been used but I figured I'd give it a try. Took it to the range today ( finally had some time ) with the substitute trigger group installed and it seemed to finally work ok. I could only load 3 rounds total ( one in the pipe and 2 in the magazine ). I assume it's plugged because I thought it was 5+1 so i will have to take it apart to remove the plug. I assume that's ok right? three rounds for hunting but for range use the max is ok? Anyway I hope to get out out again soon to see how it functions with different types of ammo. I have to say though that for a brand new gun I wasn't expecting to have these kinds of issues.

huh... ive had good luck with turkish shotguns.

fd 12 ran amazing as long as you kept the barrel nut tight.

i bought a sulun... apparently it has a better gas porting then the canuck tac12s
i saw a video from a guy that bought the sulun gas system to replace the tac12 one and it ran much better

omg, they were ####ing running it dry, no wonder they were having issues.... i wonder if they even took it apart and cleaned the shipping grease out of the gas system? im sure if they didn't that would have picked up tons of carbon and gummed up

I just took apart my newest one... it's not cosmoline but its damn close, bolt was packed with it and same with the gas system.

I bought both a real benelli m4 and a revolution armory r4 impact. Took them both out the same day cleaning and lubing. Went to the range put 75 rounds of 2 3/4" 9 pellet buck shot 3 each one. The real benelli had no issues. The clone had failure to feed, rear sight windage adjustment threads stripped out and bounced the sight all the way to the left, and the firing pin retaining pin o-ring got ripped out. So thinking of getting rid of the turknelli cheap. It is the OD green one if that matters

I've always been tempted by the Turk knockoffs, but haven't picked one up yet. May not.

I don’t understand how they can’t get the quality control together in these guns.
Maybe sell them for 1000$ instead of 650$.
As it stands I wouldn’t buy a Turkish semi auto. Except maybe a Stoeger M3### series.
As tempted as I am by a M4 clone I wouldn’t take the chance.

Right. Why gamble on throwing away $650 on jam-o-matic junk, when $1000 would get you a reliable running gun?

In Canada with semi auto restrictions on barrel length and magazine capacity I'll take a 500/590/870 pump action every day of the week ! There really is no upside to a semi auto shotgun over a pump in Canada

Benelli M4s hold 6 2³/4 in the tube, 1 on the lifter, and 1 in the chamber bringing it up to 8 rounds total with an 18.5" barrel and collapsible stock. Recoil is very manageable and you can shoot it all day. What's not to love about that

Lots to love about the design its just these turkish clones are crap. This isnt an ak that can be slapped together and still run. These need to be built right

Nothing wrong with Turkish shotguns, so long as it's understood they're disposable.

I have a few Turkish pumps, semi's and O/U's. Some of them appear to be well made, but comparing them to my "real steel" counterparts that they're based off of leaves a lot to be desired, especially in the actual use department.
I think the Turkish SG's have been great for the Canadian market, specifically, getting people into tactical shotguns who may never have went that route.

They have some good ideas too. They have/had a model that was an 870 clone with a 13'' barrel, with the receiver being made out of 7075 aluminum, and the stock sets being very, very nicely done (Turkish walnut) wood.
Comparing that to one of my Wingmasters with a 12" barrel (apples to apples) it's night and day. The clone obviously being worlds lighter. Despite that fact, it never did or will replace my 12" wing being my bush/camp SG of choice. Turkish firearms are budget alternatives, not replacements.
IMHO.

TLDR:
Turkish SG's; good, for short term. Interesting concepts, budget friendly.
