Wild Boar Population

On the plus side there should be lots of free meat to be had when the farmers are forced to cut production.

I am with the farmers on this one, and the truckers too.

I didn't think it would be, I hear they go nocturnal with any pressure and I get the impression that they are more like getting a wolf, very few chances and you're often so surprised when you get one you don't get a shot off lol. I'll wait until a real problem I guess or go see fenced operation for a chance at one. When you need to go to helicopter gunning and night vision and allow night hunting to shoot them then they are not an easy target.

we used high seat and high power scope to shoot them at night where they were destroying crops ... but in france hunters are paying damages done by wild game. nothing is easy with boars. i remember as a kid not seeing them very often they hunters started to feed them to attract them around hunting places then 2 or 3 litters a year and the population exploded and add on that no more natural predator like bears and wolves even they are a little bacl as of today wolves prefer sheep ... once they are here it is harder to get rid of them.

Last I heard not one Alberta dollar of boar bounty was collected in many months the bounty was (is?) on.

They're clearly taking over!!!

The boar-pocalypse we keep hearing about has begun...

understand there's a couple regions in Alberta where there's a bounty on the porkies, I think it's $75 per set of ears?, peace region and east side of red deer, seems they are in demand with the hunters so not much talk about where they might be, like giving up your sheep hunting spots or something...not sure I get it yet but whatever, I'd give up a weekend on ice to take the trailer and try and get some bacon for the freezer, if it's reasonable in a couple days that you could land one or two I'd give up even more weekends on ice and bring a pal who would also, the ears(bounty) can go to the land owners generous enough to hook me up with the opportunity to fill the freezer with some bacon bits...sounds win win to me

Last I heard some rural municipalities subscribe to it and some do not. Doesn't mean one can't take them out. Only means you may or may not collect provincial bounty.
