The one listed as hers is what she stole. The Blaser was the original rifle, which I have to take unless I want to ask to borrow hers.

Well then it’s easy, I also would never use a 12lb rifle as a pack rifle. What does your defiance build weigh bare, no brake or anything?

No wonder she "stole" it, if the other option is to hump a 12 1/2 lb .308 around. That's about the right weight for a .577 Nitro double rifle.

that blaser would fund another one like the prc but build it in 6 CM with a 13" lop and no brake, maybe ease up on the Hubble telescope for something in the 1 lb range and she will quickly steal that one from ya and you get your prc back

This...but maybe in 7 SAUM

Sorry this is with the brake and the original pic rail. But if you want to do math;

All good, you have way too much crap on that rifle, kidding and my opinion for a mountain rifle. Lol. Neat compact scope with rings and your 6lbs and change on your back. Everyone’s opinions are different but I think mountain rifles should be sub 7.

I 100 percent agree on the 7lbs limit! The only thing I wanted on this rifle was the NXS. I have trained and shot with these scopes all my life and everytime I get behind another optic I hesitate on everything I do. The FFP is even iffy for me, but the wife says she loves it. You don't even know how many times I have had lighter scopes in my carts because I wanted to hit that weight, lol.

As mentioned initial intent was a 20inch barrel and I had Talley rings for it and I would have been at just under that 7lbs mark. Saving 1k on the barrel made me able to cut weight in other places and the Tally's made it difficult for the bolt with that space telescope.

Sorry but I wouldn't choose either one. Way too high tech and expensive for me. I am very happy with my old fashioned, walnut stocked, custom L/H Mauser chambered for 280 Remington.

Trigger warning..... and this should bring us together as a family, as I also own a few;

But at least the Blaser would make it past this latest 495 page C21 list. It's extremely sad that they list Mauser 1908 and variations

*this is at least what the wild sheep society BC and everyone keeps posting about

Hers, without question.

In a stand or out on a mid-day stroll through the grasslands, the Blaser would be a fine companion. Splendid in fact, one worthy of a tweed jacket and a good hunting dog.

On the side of a mountain though, definitely a featherweight short-action powerhouse. 6.5 PRC, 6.8 Western, 7mm SAUM all pretty good choices depending on what you are hunting. Maybe a 300 WSM if there are things that bite back on those mountains. 22" barrel doesn't lose much. A high end 1" hunting scope in ringmounts can already reach out to 700+ yards with the aforementioned cartridges.

IMO you should be able to put together a wicked mountain rifle for well under 7 pounds, scoped. Heck, a Mark V Backcountry Ti can do it off-the-shelf with a VX-3HD at 6 pounds, unloaded.
