What is YOUR favorite hand gun?

The Remington Kleenbore box is the original .44 Magnum loading (box from 1957) These have been chronographed @ 1320 fps from this 4 inch, 1430 fps from a 6 inch & 1570 fps from a 8 3/8 in. Originally advertized velocity was 1450 fps / 6.5 inches. Pretty close !!

Wow that is pretty hot by today's standards. No wonder some of the early models have been 'loosened-up' a little.

I bought a used model 29 in 1972, with the 8 3/8" barrel. What a beautiful weapon, wish I had one with the 6" barrel. Favourite handgun is a wartime P-38, but the early model 29 is a very close second.

I'm a big fan of the 8 3/8". It is surprisingly well balanced. I think that 4" is pretty much the perfect package for a 29/629 though. I missed out on the 12.6 so have to make do with the 4.2"

My favorite, when shot together at the same time ( I like to alternate), are two. Ruger stainless steel 3 screw large-frame consecutive-numbered Bisley Vaqueros in 45 Long Colt. Free spin cowls, sheriff model mountain base pin, spring kit and general honing by Peter Riedell of the Rusty Wood Trading Company. The most fun I've had with handguns to date.

toss up my 686 has been so sweet now that i have the load dialed in. My cz ts2 is just a perm a smile with 147 gr load almost like cheating

Stocks by Herrett's, Roper design...

Ammo displayed is the Winchester offering of the original loading (yellow box from the 1960's) Lubaloy coating on the bullet (much like popular 22 LR ammo) This coating was discontinued in the 70's for a regular lead bullet in the white / red Super-X boxes...

Can you elaborate on the bolded? I have a Ruger Bisley New Vaquero inbound (gun purgatory) but I don't know what base pin you're referring to.

Painkillers: Doc Rainbow is likely referring to a Belt Mountain base pin. The Belt Mountain pins are an aftermarket replacement for the stock Ruger pin.

I’ve had a lot over the last twenty years, so I’ll include ones from the past.

Favourite handgun ever for aesthetics, beauty, collector value? Antique C96 .30 Mauser customized by Westley Richards.

Favourite if I was going to a seedy fictional part of central America from a film set and wanted to be discrete? HK P7. Yea, the straight old heel release P7, the M8 and M13’s mag releases were too easy to trip for my liking. Had them all, like the P7 best.

Favourite for work (bush flying / bear guiding)? Glock G40.

Favourite that I still own? S&W K22.

I have a few handguns that I like a bunch. My Smith 627 revolver just handles so good. Even though I haven't been shooting it great lately, the first SP-01 Shadow I bought I'm pretty fond of. The Smith 460 XVR PC I just bought is a lot of fun to shoot too.

But I think, if I just consider which one brings me the most joy when I shoot it, it would have to be my .50 AE Desert Eagle. It's big, it's ugly, the ergonomics are terrible, it's impractical, but it's just such a riot to shoot. I think it's impossible to shoot that thing and not have a smile on your face when you're done.

I started to shoot my 45 Springfield more, and I think it's the nostalgia of it being my first gun I owned. Well not this gun but a 1911A1 Loaded. This is just a A1 loaded but with a rail. First handgun when I was 17. Under Pops name of course.
