Of the currently available handguns, what is the least expensive pistol/revolver you would trust to get you through the night? In my case four handguns come to mind. They are the RIA 1911, a used Star BM, CZ82, and a used K-frame S&W Model 10, 15,13, or 66. What's your flavour? Regards, Richard ;D

The basic problem with such an question is that there is a lot more selection of inexpensive handguns in the USA compared to Canada. However, I'd say that the cheapest one I'd trust my life on would be the Norinco T-54 feeding it copper-washed Nork ammo or a decent reload. Defensive ability in less than $200 with a mag full of ammo

Trusting your life to an "inexpensive" pistol is about as smart as trusting your life to a pair of discount brake pads from Cambodian Tire (or Pep Boys for you Americans).

A bit of a loaded question... pardon the pun....

Okay, I'll bite... in Canada with the current laws.... the 12(6) shorties... that is prohibited handguns that only grandfathered individuals can own... can generally be had for minimal expense...

So for me... I have a Ruger Security Six in .357 Mag that falls into that category. It was given to me by a friend that was getting out of handguns but saw no reason to turn it in to be destroyed. So, I am into it for..... nothing, nil, nada....

On the question then, that would fit the bill. Ruger wheelgun. Would do the trick. In a ctg that is proven itself....

Cheapest I own is a Norc Tokarev and, yes, I trust it completely :) (unlike my most expensive, a Luger I'm lucky to load, never mind shoot :(). But, if I ever feel the need to keep a loaded gun at my bedside, it will be the Webley Mk 6 I bought from my brother for $250 including ammo. Big, heavy slugs to drop an intruder but low enough velocity not to penetrate a wall. :shotgun:

In the event we ever get the right for concealed carry, I would go with my H&K P7 PSP :dancingbanana:. On that subject, you might wish to sign up with Canada Carry. The current government is the best bet we will ever have to get rational gun laws and there is a very real chance they won't be there much longer.
