i've read that many people screwed up digital camo painjobs for their fiberglass stock for various firearms, and because m14 is popular for painting USGI stock, i am posting this here. Why did you screw up ? i mean, it does not sound too hard to do if you have patience, tell me what part of the process you had trouble with and if u figured out any tricks or have any suggestions for me before i attempt mine. i am using krylon paint and it will be a 3 colour theme.

thanks

Happy.

It's good to spend all that time and cam up a rifle all tactical-like, so no one will see your rifle on the range bench.... or so the deer won't see it either, yet still be oblivious to your blaze orange vest. :p

You want to go to the tactical camo homepage:
http://tacticalcamo.com/index.html

They have digital stencil kits (kind of pricey). Although they use Duracoat, any paint like Krylon will do. There are instructions that detail the process quite well.

I tried the camo generator and spent hours cuttin' out them little ####in' squares. Extremely tedious, and if you are an old fart like me really hard on the eyes.

Got all the painting done, didn't like it so I stripped it down and refinished in a solid colour.

I made my own stencils out of overhead projector film. They could be cleaned afterwards with Acetone ,with not effect on the film.

However it took me 20+ hours to cut my set of Digital stencils (which I still have......).

I had no choice as I was one of the first ones ( I know of one other fellow) to start painting the Digital camo patterns on firearms, and there were no digital stencil kit available at that time.

SKBY.

I've used a few methods to achieve military woodland and urban standard camo jobs, but the effort to make the stencils for cadpat type camo jobs..... just not goin there just yet.

As funny as that sounds, it's true. In this province it is mandatory, or pretty near mandatory to wear blaze orange while hunting, and yet I still see some guys wearing full camo gear and a blaze orange hat and vest.

i find that army surplus gear can be bought for real cheap and its real comfortable wearing for fishing and hiking and such ( i never hunted ), so i always wear it. but stuff sold at stores such as bass pro where they charge 5 or 10 times as much for hunting camo - i dont know who buys that.

Glad to see you are on this forum Mr. Wallberg.

But since animals can't see color the purpose of the camo is to break up your outline. Make you less human shaped. The vest doesn't affect the animals at all.

here's a handguard i just finished up for a fellow cgn'er, done in 4 color camo stencils i made up myself.
