So I’ve decided I’m going with a LPVO have it narrowed down to a few I’ve found used but looking for some experiences from everyone here.

Option 1 - Burris XTR II 1-8x24mm
Option 2 - Trijicon Accupower 1-8x28
Option 3 - Vortex Razor HD II-E 1-6x24

Budget is sub $3000 so I’ll definitely be picking something up from the EE or #######. If there’s any recommendations I haven’t mentioned feel free to bring them up too

I have an Accupower and I really like it (FFP / 1-8x is perfect / I like the reticle etc etc) - there is a newer version out now (cant remember the name) but from what I hear about the Vortex Razor 1-6 (especially the lighter E version) its worth a look.

It's basically a big red dot at 1x (which is a true 1x) with great glass - possibly one of the best / fastest LPVOs at close quarters out there. From memory it is a SFP scope which has pros / cons (I prefer FFP but it is personal choice).

If you keep an eye on the EE you might be able to pick up a Vortex Razor 1-10x within your budget. Food for thought.

If it were me, I'd temporarily put a higher magnification scope on it to do some accuracy testing and pick an optic based on how it shot. <2moa, I'd try and get my hands on a Razor gen 3 1-10 or. a NF 1-8 NX* or Atacr. >2moa I'd go with the Razor Gen 2 1-6E. My thought being that if it's accurate enough to warrant stretching out, the better glass and added mag of the 1-10 would be worth it, if it's not then the 1-6 is plenty of mag.

Based on this sound advice and my previous experience with the SG 542 accuracy, a 1-6X will suffice just fine. I say this because both of the SG 542s I owned were 4 MOA scatterguns. OK for military "minute of man" requirements, but far from what I would consider to be "precision" or even "DMR" glass-worthy. That said, if you are a magnfication slut such as I, then you will want all the zoom action you can get. In that case, I heartily recommend the new Eotech Vudu, 1-10x FFP LPVO with a very cool "evolving reticle" that morphs from a speed-ring at 1 power to a mini Christmas Tree-style reticle at 10X with the switch occuring mostly in the 6-9 power range. It is an outstanding optic - super bright and crisp and priced right at $2K even!

Here's my Eotech mounted on a CZ Bren 2.....

Hadn’t really looked at Eotech’s line but they seem to be pretty good! Definitely taking a look at them now

I know it's not variable, but what about a Hensoldt Fero Z 24? Would look more fitting on a military grade weapon of war like a Famae SG542 anyway :p. It has a BDC elevation turret for 7.62x51. You can get other mounts for them too.

I suggested it cuz I have one kicking around somewhere that I don't use if someone is interested. :p I also have the A.R.M.S. #19 quick release picatinny mount that bolts in place of the HK claw mount.

Thanks for all the suggestions and info everybody! I actually ended up going with a Eotech Vudu 1-10, found one with mount for a good price so it’s in the mail and on the way
