Hi folks, sorry to bug ya but aside from a few m1 carbines I don't know much about milsurps. While digging through my safe I found a sporterized NO4 MK1 rifle that I haven't shot for over 20 years and would like to sell. A friend of mine gave it to me along with some cash for painting his car.

If anyone has knowledge on these please let me know as I don't have a clue (and most on the EE have sold so no idea on what they actually went for).

Here are the details I lifted from the receiver / barrel.

NO4MK1ROF (F)
Made in England
8.5 tons per 0 - sounds pretty scary! ;)
303 "2-222"
BNP (and a crown on top)
Serial PC28###
Brass Butt Plate with trap door. Inside smelly twine with a nail like thing on end
Bore VG
Unkle Mikes Strap (quite nice actually)

Bubbad No4s sell for $75 to $300 depending on who bubba was and the quality of the bubbaing.
There are some nice factory bubbad rifles, these would be on the high end of the price range.
Then there are the bubbas like yours, the metal looks really good (which is a shame really) and the ugly stock is pretty clean, so you probably have a $150 rifle there.......

:D

I'd agree. $150 sounds about right. It's a shame the barrel has been cut, otherwise it would be restorable. I'd hate to see the re-crown job though, as whoever cut the barrel couldn't be bothered to bevel the outer edge...

Yup. Unfortunate cut barrel = forever just another hunting rifle. Need a scope mount and a scope and lets go deer hunting. I mean, a clean bore with nice grooves, can shoot well. (As Tyler notes though, looks like a hacksaw job at the tip of the barrel).

Mind you, I do have a no4 with a cut rifle myself and I don't mind going in the rough with it - won't damage it! :D

Wow! I just found my sporters twin...right down to the black band and the ramped site.

Thanks for all the responses. I wasn't expecting a windfall on this one but just wanted to know a fair price. I included the picture of the cut barrel because with the limitted knowledge I have of milsurps I knew that would affect price. It's a shame these things were 'sporterized' A while ago I saw on the EE someone selling a 100 year old long lee which had to be one of the nicest looking enfields I've seen. Nice to see that many were still not bubba'd.

Thanks again,

Mittycat
