Dlask Arms Rem 870 Shorties Thread

Can you ? We were informed that once it is verified as Restricted it falls under the 'Handgun' calssification of the Criminal Code. There's a really crap saying in Canada ....'Once a handgun, always a handgun".

In the configuration as pictured, it is a restricted shotgun not a handgun.

.

No it's not but due to saying 'too much' I won't explain why here.

Look, I'm not arguing with anyone here, its pointless. That being said I have been making all manner of shotguns and other things for over ten years and have had many disscussions directly with the SFSS and others that are responsible for these things and I know what I know. If you choose to believe otherwise then, for now anyways, it's a free country.

Hey, i'm not arguing, i had one, and it was clearly written on the registration certificate '' Restricted shotgun'', (i still have the registration certificate: Class Restricted, Type: shotgun)

So mine was a restricted shotgun.

Fyi, The barrel was a factory original 10'' from Remington and not an aftermarket, this shotgun as pictured was imported directly from the US.

Fair enough. You would likley know better.

I guess I would just sell the kit as a long gun, and allow the buyer to configure and real with registration on their own.

Interested in whether it's the pistol grip or the overall length that make it restricted. Which side of the fence would a pistol grip with a 30" barrel fall on?

(Personally, the pistol grip scares me; I'd rather have a proper stock with the recoil-handling and control of having it braced against my shoulder. Also thinking about how close to my ears I really want that muzzle blast to be happening!)

Yes these were available in this config as restricted shotguns quite a few years ago now.

Yes they were available (the one with the 10'' barrel and pistol grip) but only in the US, i've never seen one for sale in Canada.

Mine was imported on a private basis, i had to source it myself from a class 3 dealer in the US.

But all the dealers i spoke to said it could not be imported, turn out it was false information.

Really interesting thanks for sharing the info

My mistake, Wolverine supplies had a Rem 870P MCS 10” with Mesa telescopic stock and red dot listed on their site. It was years ago, sorry. I recalled it as being a Rem 870 MCS 10” with Pachmayr presentation grip....clearly ...it wasn’t.

8.5" complete

Been checking your site the last couple years to see if they're in stock before I thought to check this forum for info.

Any timeframe for the 12.5 barels?
I need at least 2 of them
Reason I ask is because I have a bunch of other things to order with you and want to do one order
Thanks
