Unboxed my Last Handgun today.

The Model 17 / K22 is a full sized .22LR :)

Anyone have the Standard Catalog of S&W handy? Hoping to track down her year, I imagine mid 80s serial is AEY20XX

I have a 1954 one sitting in gun purgatory now. 5 screw, I can't hardly wait to get my grubby little paws on it. Nice Smith Ardent, thanks for the vid.

It has been a nice thread, and here’s a nice pic of her.

Great video and beautiful prelock, I remember when airweights and masterpieces were 200$ brand new in box probably back in the late 1970s

Some of us will never have the chance now to own one. We MUST stand up to this! Thanks for letting me live vicariously if just for a moment...

This government will not be in power forever, I strongly believe this handgun freeze is just a temporary measure and civilian ownership will once resume. The handgun "thaw" will happen

I have a 19-2 , had a 14-2 which is the same thing as your 17, except for recessed cylinder and 38 sp of course.
Those other grips look to be 2nd generation colt python, if so , in the US they pay ridiculous money for them, unless they have been modified for the smith.
I do like the Hogue rubber finger grips for shooting.
But you can't beat the wood for looks.
I use to have some speed loaders for the 17's, but all gone now.

Thanks for the kind words NAA & IPSC, I’m very happy with her.

I make it November, 1984.

Thank you, Dave in Calgary, appreciate that. It’s younger than I am but from the same decade, how all good marriages should go statistically.

Figured Python, thanks for that. Will look into it, they’re definitely not modified and appear new. Side note, cylinder is recessed on the 17-4 as well, a touch I appreciate aesthetically.

I also knew I had a set of custom cocobolo K Frame target grips I’d been saving for 20 years for some reason. I don’t even recall which gun I received them with, I was startled to be able to find them. Turns out they’re not for me, but was fun to find them and fit them up.
