Lightweight qd rings

Is there such thing as lightweight quick detach scope rings? I'm looking for 30mm medium and kind of striking out. I'm fine with weaver style bases. They need to be repeatable.

i ve seen talley qd rings in alloy but never used them as of today i prefer steel rings on steel bases for qd system.

Leupold makes a QD ring and base pair that looks to weigh about 6 ounces all-up depending on what based you choose, same for their QRW ring for Weaver bases. All steel. I don't know if I'd settle for alloy on a QD system.

Never heard of a lightweight QR or QD.

The Leupold are nice mounts and not ridiculously heavy. I would not consider using them on a flyweight mountain rifle.

The original style of Weaver ring is fairly lightweight, and detachable. If you can live with the ugly.

Thanks but I won't be using the original weaver rings. That's all I used to use and hated them. Its also next to impossible to get a scope sitting level in them.

If the point of using QD rings is to be ab le to use old sights, make sure the bases are low enough that when the scope isn’t on then you can see the rear sight… I have a few Mauser action rifles that I can barely see the rear sight and that sucks!

No it's for a switch barrel rifle that I will have to remove the scope to remove the barrel.

ARMS 22 qd rings come in 30mm medium. Some people love them, some hate them but they were long the standard on DMR-ish M14s and were specced on many SPR rifles. I used a pair for many years on an M14 platform and had no issues with them but I also didn't remove and re-install them often so can't really comment on return to zero.

I'd be looking at a qd unimount for your application, provided that will fit on your action rail.

Also, if it's just for the purpose of swapping barrels (which requires tools anyways) I'd just get lightweight rings or a lightweight unimount (like the Spuhr hunter ) and always torque to the same spec. I swap barrels all the time and it's an extra minute or 2 to pull a non-qd mount and then re-install.

I have never been unable to get a scope sitting perfectly level when using them. True, it takes a few adjustments and time to do so, but certainly possible. Once one learns the recipe, doesn’t take long either.

Yes Sir. They are the lightest I’m aware of, ugly for sure, tough as tanks, AND return a scope to zero very well. Not hard at all to win coffee bets at the range shooting groups while removing and replacing the scope between shots.

Any quality set of rings will be repeatable. I'd grab a set of MDT Premier rings, some of the aluminium Badger Ordnance ones or the Spuhr hunting rings.

That's unfortunate that you cannot get those rings figured out. They are perfect for what you need.
