The wood on it is roughly finished.
But a .308 for 499.99 with attached iron sights isn't a horrible deal.
Hopefully, the wood is a lot higher quality than the T-81 SE Redwoods.
That wood is soft enough to dent with your fingernail, not to mention the finish was pretty sloppy.
Hopefully this ain't a repeat of that.

There are many options in 308, gp is full of them. It would be different if it would be in 7.62. The only thing going for it are the open sights. I'd rather buy another rifle in 223.

i dont read many of the sales threads. why are people who have never even seen this gun and have no interest, ####ting on it before it even gos for sale??

It may act as good warning. Imagine getting some scratched wood when you expected better craftsmanship, then came back and saw that it was in the photos but you just didn't zoom in enough, or some young guy with only 520$ to spend buys this as his first rifle because "it looks cool". Not everyone knows what else is on the market.

The JW105 was a diamond in the rough, one of the most accurate guns I have ever owned.

I know of two. Both had extraction issues due to rough chambers; the shells would come out with circular marks around the outside of the shell. One moved away a long time ago, the other is still making the rounds, from one bargain hunter to the next.

Funny how the owner blows about the rifle when they get it, then a few months later they sell it to the next "proud owner" Their .22s were hit and miss as well, but if you got a good one, they were excellent. Their handguns were great value and usually surprisingly good quality.

I appreciate the efforts, but in my opinion it screams low, sweatshop like quality. Therefore (again…in my opinion) it’s not something I would ever consider buying. There are better options out there for just slightly more.

$250 more gets you a Mossberg MVP IN .308

1/2 MOA
Takes AR AND M14 magazines
Comes with 1913 rail
Iron sights
Threaded muzzle w/ flash hider
16 1/2 barrel
Spiral cut bolt

I like Chinese firearms and nobody does an SKS better. This thing is a pass for me. I get the truck gun concept tho - could fill that roll.

Remember when new M14’s ran $399… sigh…

There are many options available out there. Again, I really appreciate that someone made the effort to bring this rifle to Canada, but it’s just not competitively priced in my opinion. Not too long ago I bought a German made Mauser 98 sporter in 30-06 for $750 here. Yes, it was more expensive, but it offered better value than this rifle in my opinion. Good that we have some choices.

If the screw holes are small enough and I could find bases with the right spacing it wouldn’t cause much trouble. Just a simple drill and tap with inexpensive tools to upgrade to 6-48 or 8-40. If there are no bases that fit or the holes are too small, it would be a real pain though. We’ll need somebody to act it get one, do a complete intelligence review and comparison to a stock commercial 98 and let us know the details.

I think getting an open sight Mauser pattern rifle brand new for $500 wouldn’t be the worst thing that could happen to a hunter.

They are some odd ball sized threads. Probably metric. Good luck to anyone wanting to mount a scope.

It's not difficult to drill and tap it for something else. The bases are probably a Weaver 46 front and a 45 rear. Could be a 55 for the rear like a Husqvarna. Good thing I have base shims on hand. I just got this feeling it's gonna need it.
