cut shotgun barrel

if i cut the full choke barrel from 30" to 24" will it still shoot slugs like before ,,

No!!!!

Cutting down the barrel you will now have a Cylinder Choke.

It will not shoot the same ..... it might shoot better .... or it might group worse .... depending on the slugs you shoot out of it ... and depending on your barrel!

You will only find out when you pattern/shoot the cut down barrel ....

p.s.: After cutting it down ... getting that barrel threaded for chokes ... might help to find the perfect screw in choke constriction for the ammo your are using ...

It might or it might not, if you’ve ever shot slugs through chokes starting from cyl up to full you’ll know full well how different your poa/poi can be with each choke. This can also change with the brand of slug you shoot.

Slugs shoot different in every gun. And the bugger about it all is that you have to try each and every brand to find out what works for "this" gun, because it is different than the last gun, and different on the one before that....

Often barrels are not bore consistent. This becomes obvious on cutting. Looking from the muzzle end you may see a thicker barrel wall portion then on the opposite side. This is normal in barrel making and when the choke is bored and finished this issue is eliminated. The gun may shoot up, down, left or right you won't know until you cut it.

Post # 2 is full of wrong.

It's going to cost you a few hours of range time and a bunch of money to find out where the slug goes a d which ammo it likes.
Might be better to send away the barrel to be cut and threaded for chokes, I'd wall thickness permits?
