CFC2023 opens 2023-01-01 and closes 2023-03-31

Many of you shooters are at a loss since the May 2020 OIC was announced (I'm no different) and for all intent and purposes our sport may never recover but that doesn't mean anyone needs to get on the truck or throw in the towel.

Spirit & Intent
The Spirit & Intent of this match is for participants to explore and improve their own musketry skills. This is less about beating competitors and more about personal achievement regardless of knowledge and experience. An opportunity to learn from one another’s example...

CFC is a demonstration of unsupported positional shooting
5 rnds standing
5 rnds kneeling
5 rnds prone
5 rnds sitting

In that order with a mandatory 5 round reload between positions
Time is recorded starting with the first shot and ending with the last (total 20 rnds)

There are six rifle divisions and there is an eight person delivery team supporting the whole shooting competition (all volunteers).

Compared to years past this opening video is purposefully short and only reviews key areas.
You all know how to read the rules and apply them.
If there are any doubts please ask questions in advance either on the FB Group or send an email to our posted address

Rules are simple, Role of Musketry is open source and many more resources can be found on my website Riflechair.com and / or Facebook group @cabinfeverchallenge
This is not a business - 100% volunteer supported - please CGN admins do not delete this post.
Thank You

Thanks to Riflechair and all the other volunteers who host this each year. I am looking forward to trying to improve on my results from previous years

Packed up some rifles and a collection of targets and drove to the range today.... to discover I missed the post that the RCMP has the range rented out for the day.... Hopefully I can get out tomorrow or else I'll be waiting for next set of days off

I’ve done this many times. Oops

I got out on my last day off last set. To me CFC is all about improving my own shooting, and getting out of the house during a generally poo time of year. This brings me to my current dilemma.... last year I shot my SMLE (video linked to encourage people to get out there as it shows you don't need to be good to play lol) and scored ~18.2. After some issues of case head separation (x2) and poor magazine spring causing feeding issues (x3) I was able to complete a full run and scored ~36 (exact math to be calculated once I pull the time off the video). So I did EXACTLY what I wanted to do and made personal improvement BUT I bought myself a K11 this year I'd like to run. So.... do I edit up the video and make a submission knowing that I can only submit one entry per category OR do I run the K11, and see where I do better and give myself a different benchmark to compete against next year? Decisions decisions....

LAST YEAR'S SMLE RUN

Well, I put together and submitted my run for the SMLE. I came to the conclusion that this is more of a competition against myself than anything, so I figured it was best to submit the run using the same rifle as last year. I was stoked to have doubled my score from last year's run by scoring 3 more hits on target in 43 less seconds. May I present my 2023 Cabin Fever Challenge run in Division 3 - Manually Operated

Just under 2 months left to submit entries, so get out there and give it a try!

Got out on last days off to shoot the ol' SKS. In the spirit of competing against myself, I ended up running 5 cycles of CFC with my best score coming on the second run. I will stitch together a video on next days off, as I failed to get any "B-Roll" for the video. I now know what is meant that "you can't miss fast enough"; I tied my shots on target from last year's entry (12) but was able to do it faster, therefor increasing my previous score. I've included my SKS videos from previous years and will upload my 2023 entry in (hopefully) under a week. As of today, we are halfway through the competition period, so get out there and try it out!

I was able to edit together my video last night of my SKS run for Cabin Fever Challenge 2023: Division 1 - Vintage Semi Auto

2023 Entry

For those odd people who don't work shift-work, you have 3 weekends left! Reminder that all you need is the ability to shoot safely, a cell phone camera (no editing required!), and 20 rounds of ammunition (only 4 rounds required if you shoot muzzeloading)

For those who either have the next 2 days off, or shot it previously and haven't uploaded your videos yet, you've got under 48 hours to submit your entries

This is as good of time as any to once again thank the hosts and volunteers who put this thing on each year as well as a thank you to all the shooters who submitted entries

Awards video has been published. So if you are looking for something to watch as you sip through your morning coffee, here you go. Once again, thanks to the hosts, volunteers, and participants (of which there was almost 100 this year). Look forward to shooting this competition again in 2024 and watching other's entries as well
