has any one detailed the range of stampings on m305 /14s recievers?

It would be interesting to know, especially if this can get us a ballpark figure on year of manufacture.

Mine says:

M-14 .308 NORINCO
MADE IN CHINA CJA SFLD, MI

What do yours say?

edit: just found chopper1 post

Those with the year stamped....that is the import stamp marking, not actually year of manufacture.

is there any way to know the actually year of manufacture?

Define "manufacture". Do you want the year all the parts were put together (assembled) or the year the individual components were forged?

From what I understand there is a very long period (up to 20 years) between the former and the latter.

well they are very old i figure. i found a mushroom growing along with some fuzz in my cosmoline soaked stock. but the best part is after it was cleaned it looked new

There might be a difference in markings between importers. I bought mine from Roger at Dark International and If I remember correctly, he mentioned that his were all brought in independent of marstar.

To identify the date that the receiver and parts were made? Err...not exactly.

The receiver can be estimated within a certain degree (like within a decade :p jk).

Your best bet is the compare with the findings from Different's collection of M14 M1A data

Many of the parts don't have clear markings and the manufacturing process, finish and look may appear different. It is very difficult to determine.

Dark did import their rifles independent of Marstar. Having said that, it is unlikely that the current batches(say from the past few years) are any different. The only addition some may be observing now are the import year stamp added since mid-2007.

Most rifles of recent years are all CJA___ , destined for Springfield, MI
