tikka t3 looking for an accurate 223 factory load

Do 62s shoot any better than 55s in your guys 223 Tikkas? 55s have been disappointing in mine at least and 62gr bulk is still a bunch cheaper than any of the match.

I dont know where I found it. But it was a chart that shows stabilization? Accuracy? Twist? For a 223 at 2800. It shows for an 8 twist ideal accuracy should be between 62 and 80g.

So heavier should be better. But you wont know how specific bullets shoot until you try it.

Edit: I found the article, I didnt read it so someone must have posted the picture somewhere. It's a little over halfway down the article. Bright red green and yellow, you can find it scrolling pretty quick.

whats your most accurate 223 factory load in your tikka ?.....i have a nice aftermarket bell and carlson stock on a tikka t3 and it sports a very decent burris scope...i have checked screws on scope and stock and tried 4-5 different brands of factory ammo still cant get better than 1.25-1.50 groups at a hundred yards....i own 4 tikkas in different calibers and they all shoot under an inch ...help....what do you use/recommend in your tikka ?

Hi make sure your barrel / stock is on straight and free floated - do not over tighten the action screws. The best factory load that I had was with the Sako brand ammo Game Point 50 grains three shots were always under an inch at 100 yards the fourth or fifth would open it up a bit.

69gr SMK even loaded for short mag length with Varget and Lapua brass shoots great. Also for a light cheap load Benchmark and 40gr Vmax same in 2 Tikka T3 223 1:8s for me

Yes in my T3x 62grain does shoot a better group than bulk 55 grain. I bought 5 - 20 round boxes of different makes and weighs from 40 grain to 77 grain just to see what my particular rifle likes. As I indicated earlier 69 and 77 grain Federal match is a sub moa for me but I like to try different ammo just in case a cheaper one works just as well.

I forgot to mention earlier that my gun really like Remington UMC 55 grain. I have only tried it at my 50 yard indoor range and I was really surprised at its accuracy. I still have bulk PMC 55 grain and Winchester white box to try as well.

I have a T3 CTR in .223 (1-8 twist rate, which most newer Tikka's in .223 have) and have had success with 60gr Hornady VMAX and Berger 60gr Flat Base Varmint (handloads), which shoot tighter groups and produce lower standard deviation numbers than the 70+ grain bullets (with my particular Tikka CTR).
For factory ammunition I would suggest Hornady Black 62gr FMJ or Hornday 68gr BTHP Match. Berger does produce 73gr BT Target ammunition, but it is about $50 a box versus the $25. for the Hornady Black.

If you have a 1-10 or 1-12 twist rate, then lighter (55gr and under) ammunition should shoot well, like Hornady 53gr Superformance Varmint, or Sierra Prairie Enemy 55gr.

i have a 1 in 8 twist .....heavy barrel version....i have tried the superformance ammo and it doesnt shoot well....my friend has the same set-up and his shoots 53 grain superformance really good....i would like to find a varmint load ....does anybody make a varmint load in 62 grain range i wonder Hmmm ?

I noticed I have a crate of PMC Xtac 62g .556 In storage that should be put to use

I know Sammi specs say don't do it and everything but has anyone tried factory .556 in their Tikka?

How were the results?
