7.62x39 hunting ammo 16 inch vs 20 inch barrels

It will be right in the ballpark (cricket field?). Just slightly slower than the 308 with similar weight bullets. - dan

perfect, as i then have one slightly more powerful than the 308 with the heavier projiectiles, its a 30-06 but i chopped it down so as not to have too much gain over the 308win, but just enough

Lol. I'm reminded of the "how many angels can dance on the head of a pin" arguments. But I have done similar when I get on a caliber kick. "Ooh, love me some 35's. So, build or buy a 35 TCU, 357 Herrett, 35 Rem, 358 Win, 35 whelen, 358 NM, 358 STA, 35-378". Did the same with 22's, 6mm's, 7mm's, 30's, 9.3's, 416's. Im probably missing some, but this is the way. If you're a gun nut. - dan

It sure is.

You guys are gonna think I'm nuts, but I actually kinda prefer the American. The Howa is a better rifle no doubt, but there's something to be said for that handy lil sucker, and Mini 30 mags.

Just went off in the mail to my brother, an artist, to be given the new look. Told him he has free reign for colours, pattern etc...Wondering what I will get back!

I don't think your nuts for one minute, I've had multiples of both the Howa and the Ruger ranch and the Ranch is the faster, slicker action of the two by far once it's broken in as well as having the edge in accuracy. I'm a firm believer in the old adage that a rifle is only as good as it's magazine...and Howa seriously lacks in this department. I consider the DIP or Jefferson Bottom metal a must have part to even put proper torque on the action screws to begin load development.

It's mainly a ford vs chevy thing and the peanut gallery will be along shortly to crucify me, but I will tell you this...Ranch owners outnumber mini owners probably two to one. In the very near future you are going to see some Ranchs with some VERY high round counts due to the AR guys switching over to these as range toys.
I will go on record with a prediction that these little carbines are gonna hold up just fine and prove to be rugged and reliable as most any Rugers.
