Internal magazine length on new CZ600 .223

I'm looking for info on the CZ600 in .223
If any of you new owners could measure and tell me the OAL inside the magazine it would be much appreciated, I won't buy one until I know.
They are a 7 twist, but if the long and heavies won't fit in the magazine { a'la Tikka T3, Ruger American etc.} then it will be a hard pass for me.

Sent this as a PM but thought I'd post for others too regarding measurements on my newly bought Alpha

- I.D. of magazine (.223) is 2.315"

- Mic'd an 80 Berger and the lands measure at 1.940"

for the most part, you're going to be single loading anything longer that a 77SMK loaded to mag length.

Thanks beltfed, I owe you a beer, man I was really hoping with the 7 twist they would design a roomy magazine.
How are you liking your new Alpha otherwise? Is the advertised weight of 6.5lbs accurate? Smooth bolt? Any type of pillars in the stock. Please give us your impressions.
 
Yeah, the 600 series is a bit of an enigma as far as I'm concerned.
For all the different models they have, none of them really tick all of the boxes that I would like.

The Trail as an example is the one I figured would do it for me, insofar as being a suitable replacement for my BCL Bison.
One of the primary features is the collapsing butt stock. The cheek piece isn't interchangeable for a lefty and even checking its feel shouldering as a righty it felt awkward and a bit goofy. Great option on a subgun, but I think its a miss on a bolt gun.
I like the magazine interface and controls on the Trail, with the exception the mag release isn't ambidextrous.


I like the fact the stock on the alpha is nice and light, lending to that 6.5 lb weight, but it is a little on the cheap side for my liking. Overall fit, finish and feel of the stock though is good, despite how cheap it feels. The action screws thread through thickened blocks of the glass reinforced polymer stock, so I guess they act as pillars to an extent. They could certainly improve upon the alpha stock without much effort, so we shall see what the aftermarket comes up with.
The barrel profile is bang on (they call it a 'semi-heavy' profile barrel - it starts at around .900" at the chamber and tapers to .720"), but they really didn't need to go to 24" long on a 223; 20" long would have been perfect.
Despite not going with the stanag mags, the CZ proprietary ones are good quality and have positive locking. I dislike blind mags, but I appreciate their purpose and following, and the ability to lock the mag in effectively turning it into a blind magazine is pretty cool. The BREN mags serve the 7.62x39 chambered offerings, so we'll see what else CZ has up their sleeves (6.5 grendel, 6 ARC maybe?).

Bolt throw and action are near on perfect out the box. My 527 in 7.62x39 has a smooth bolt, but if you misalign the throw of your hand enough during the ejection or loading, it can bind.
There is no such binding on the 600.
Trigger is awesome out of the box and the adjustment is stupid simple.
I like the safety, cocked indicator, and bolt lock while on safe.
The semi-floating bolt head is going to help with concentricity and accuracy.

If I had this same rifle in 7.62x39 (maybe a 16 or 18" barrel), I'd sell my 527 in short order.

That's high praise right there, sounds like the Alpha has some potential, all that's left is for you to get out and shoot it and tell us how it goes!

I feel the same way about the Trail as you do. I was really excited earlier on for it and then when the first trial videos came out I could see that the guys were struggling with a cheek weld and the placement of the cheekpiece. I knew from watching that it wouldn't work out for me so I cancelled my pre-order with Tesro.
