Are the mosquitos (specifically the sport model) still picky on what they shoot and have they corrected any of the other flaws in the more recent examples of this pistol? I have a chance to pick one up with the target accesory bundle (red dot, mount, holster) for 450$ from a local shop. Deal or no deal?

I say deal. For $400 ;)

More of a novelty .22 pistol IMO, very cool, but not the best choice for target shootin

I just got the sport package and have been using it for indoor ppc/duty practice this winter.

Ive lost track of the round count but Im guessing at around 1500 or so. Ive tried several different types of ammo, and so far the only stuff Ive had any issues with is the Winchester bulk, however some of the otherguys with different guns have had problems with it as well! I regularly shoot Federal Bulk packs and have no issues at all.

Overall Ive been extremly pleased with the Mosquito. My only advice would be to buy a new one, as they seem to have most of the bugs worked out of them now.

IMHO

get it

I bought an extended barrel version in the package for $540.00 back in Sept. and that was the best deal I could find and I looked everywhere. Make sure it's serial number is above 40000 as that is where the new generation started. I have trouble with a lot of bulk ammo and contacted my dealer and he told me to only use 40 grain round nose bullets, although I have only found 40 grain winchester dynapoint hollow point bulk they are having about a 1% failure. Some of the other stuff would fail 3-4 times in a 10 round magazine and after checking, they were 36 grain bullets. On another note I recently watched an episode of Shooting USA and it was about .22 handgun target matches and many of them were having failures. I remember there was a browning and a glock ( must have been a .22 conversion) and few other makes but no sig.

It seems like a deal to me. A local dealer close to me wants $525 + tax.

I chamfered the front of the hammer where the slide engages on the rearward action. And reduced the tension on the hammer spring....now it shoots the cheap stuff no problem. Some guys mess with the two return springs that come with the box but to no success. Its the hammer and spring is the issue with the mosquito once fixed....its a fun gun to shoot. Glad i have one.:dancingbanana:

Has anyone found that the trigger has no clean break? On SA you build trigger pressure and it fires but there is no trigger break to be consistent with.

FYI to anyone in the market for a .22lr plinker... Don't overlook the P22. I just purchased one brand new from Frontier, and it seems to me that Walther has been paying attention. The thing works FLAWLESSLY out of the box. It's shooting ANYTHING I throw at it. 0 FTE and 0 FTF at this point, 400 rounds in. I'm basically trying everything I can to make it fail, and I can't. Granted, I can't say much about long term issues (slide cracking). Also, it isn't even close to as accurate as other .22lr pistols in that price range.
