Varget Back in stock in 1 lb and 8 lb

I personally appreciate a few retailers more than others in general….is it because their prices on absolutely everything is always the lowest and they always have stock on everything…and their shipping prices on everything is always the lowest??? Nope, it’s because of their professionalism, customer service, and overall efforts to stock as much as possible and still be competitive (in general)…., but that’s just me….and there is exceptions when I shop around and/or elsewhere, but I don’t begrudge them when I choose to shop around ****And I definitely do not crap on them publicly when they take the time to notify us of items as they arrive/stock…..those complaining on these posts could maybe divert their energy towards something more productive.

No disrespect intended to PRF or any other vendor out there but I cannot accept the price increase in the market as it stands. When my supply is gone its gone. I will reduce my range time and continue on with factory rounds for as much as I can. Then its out of the reloading hobby I go. Pure math, nothing personal. I will take my bits and stuff them in a box somewhere out of the way. Cant be bothered to barter over all the little bits. When I go, off to Value Village or the club with the box as per the will. We all have to make a living and vendors buy for what its sold for and re-sells it. Got it. My market share says no to those prices. I couldve accepted 30-40% increase not 300%.

Good luck all and be safe.

The Varget is selling. The 8 pounders are almost gone now. Go on their website and have a look for yourself. Why are they selling? Because it is priced fairly! Some other retailers are showing some lower prices but if you look closer you will see that these are old prices still listed on their sites...and they haven't had any Varget in stock and for sale for forever! That's not a fair comparison.

Clay and Prophet River are top notch...A+...the Real Deal.

Contradict much?

Its selling because the have stock, while others dont, not so much to do with price.

Every industry deals with this, especially industries that supply products for peoples hobbies.

If you are making any income off of a product that is part of ones hobby/passion, you are over charging. There's no winning.

The inner socialist that says you should only make a basic income in business comes out far to often on here.

In times that we have helped out Prophet River with guns, and the times they have helped us find guns, It has always been a pleasure dealing with you guys!

Another retailer just listed 8 lb jugs of Varget at 489.99 ....good to see its becoming available again :)

So those other businesses must be running a charity when they can afford to sell exact same item for $100 less, no?

For the record, there is no spike in cost of powders, only the same increase all the dealers have. All dealers pay the same for cost of products.

It's nice to give the retailers the benefit of the doubt, but nope, it's pure greed I'm afraid.

like you re not selling for more than you purchased when you re selling on ee ... that is hilarious ...

clay and the team has done a lot for this communauty i doubt you re reaching that level ....

Obviously you have a reading comprehension problem.

I for one have been a very good customer of Prophet River and applaud them for their awesome customer service.

Clay has been a great connection for me and my wife.

Now I will break down for you what I said above.

As dealers, we all pay the same cost of products, whether it be powder, guns, ammunition or accessories. We all buy from the same Canadian distributors.

Prophet River's pricing isn't always the least expensive, but their customer service is the best. No contest!......:)

When a dealer sells one pound powder bottles for $130.00 each, it's greed driven in my opinion. Only my opinion.

Clay does not do this, I do not do this.

So next time read the entire thread before thinking you are coming to Clay's rescue. I don't think he needs your help.

I'm not in competition with any other dealer period.

Hopefully you can get your reading skills to a level where you can understand what one is trying to say before opening your mouth.

Thanks........:)

Powder isn't dropping to the price 3 years ago.
Covid shutdowns screwed up the supply chains for damn near everything. Every company that lost money during this period raised prices to offset losses. Add to that that large corporations like Vista Outdoors is buying up successful companies, companies to act as suppliers for other companies..Alliant Powders..for Remington Federal Ammuntion.
Add to that that the backorder situation is filled by order date in the USA and the dealers wholesalers and distributors went crazy with their orders when the shortages started.
World demand for military ammo is at a high..don't think this doesn't affect supply demand.

Then add on the Federal Buffoon putting shipping restrictions on componants and that increases shipping a bunch.

Bottom line PRs prices are where it is in this economy.

Wait, what? Alliant is part of the Remington and Federal crew now?

I'm close to cracking open my last 8 pounder of R-16. Got 30 pounds of other stuff I could use but it don't make bughole stuff like 16 does... Breaks my heart, almost wanna put it up as a display piece instead of opening it.

Hey hawk-i

That retailer you alluded to with the advertisement for $489.99 Varget.........isn't in stock. That's an old price from old stock my friend.

That retailer that had varget listed for 489.99 did have stock.Ordered on Sun the 22nd courier dropped it of on Tues the 24th.I was one of the fortunate ones.I think I got the last one

It takes 30 seconds to figure out how much things cost in the US and to compare to what dealers are selling it for here;

For an example - when in stock;

Varget 1lbs = U.S $50-55
Exchange rate = 30-35%
_____________________
Total *give or take* = CAN $65-70

$80 per 1lb is expensive but appears to be reasonable priced for our market.

Cheers,

Cheers,

Your Canadian dollar conversion is spot on. Other than some credit card companies charge close to 40% exchange right now......:(

The deal is, our ammunition, powder, guns, ammunition and accessories are actually a little less expensive here in Canada than the United States.

One can compare Canadian pricing to Midway USA for example. If a particular box of ammunition sells for $55.00 in Canada, it usually is around $50.00 - $55.00 USD.

In some cases, our items are less expensive in Canada.

We used to buy all our ammo, reloading components and accessories in the USA. Now, for the most part, it's less expensive in Canada.

So again, although your math is bang on, it usually is better to buy here in Canada.

$80.00 per pound of Varget in Canada is the going rate. I have seen some dealers asking anywhere from $90.00 - $130.00 per pound of the same powder.

In Canada right now, we actually have the upper hand on some items, not everything though of course.

I just bought 100 rounds of Sierra #1365 (224) at Bass Pro for $49.99 plus tax - the last time I bought these they were $34.99. I have three pounds of W-748 that I was able to get decent 5 shot groups at 100 yards. Like, yourself once my supply is gone it's gone. Not going to pay $85 for a pound of powder when I bought the same powder not long ago for $42.95. I also found some factory loads that shoot well and would be acceptable for coyote hunting
