Hi everyone and hope all is well! Im looking at spending some money but not sure how much… I was looking at a Cadex Rifle and my friend is saying save your money and purchase a Cadex chassis for REM 700 or Tikka and save some money… what’s your thoughts to my CGN family?

First comment, look on EE how many Franken builds are up…

Second I’d rather buy a used complete rifle at a discount than have a new pieces together rifle.

However, a different view is I’d rather put a $3000 piece on glass on a $1000 rifle than a $500 piece of glass on a $3500 rifle anyday! (just an example). If your worried about saving 500-1500 by shortcutting the rifle I’m guessing the optic hasn’t come into play either.

I kick myself in the butt every day for selling my Cadex… I will certainly buy another. You can certainly build a custom and use a Cadex chassis, but really at the end of the day You can buy a complete off the shelf rifle at shoots 1/2 moa just like the custom. I would just buy a Cadex if that’s the type of rifle You are looking for.

Went through the same questioning in the last few months. Fired 2 Cadex rifle on a weekend course and decided to buy a complete Cadex.
Depending on what Cadex model you're getting it's really close to getting a custom build. The Seven Stars Pro use a Bartlein barrel, Single Point cut 5R rifling.
Now already thinking of a custom build on a Woox chassis, .223 rifle.

I will be the outlier and say that unless you are going for a .300 Win Mag or larger chambering, the CADEX "Guardian Lite" ought to be avoided due to the excessive weight of the system and the long-action Bolt-throw (slower). Don't get me wrong, my Guardian Lite in .308 iwas an absolute tack-driver and I have no doubt that the 6.5 Creedmoor shoots even better assuming that is even possible. For me however, the juice just wasn't worth the squeeze. The Guardian Lite is a long action, more suitable for the .300 Win Mag chambering that Cadex offers than either of the smaller calibres. I'd go with one of Cadex's lighter systems if I were after a non-magnum calibre, is all I am saying. The Guardian Lite is overkill for .308 or 6.5 calibres. All things considered, I am much happier with my Tikka/KRG Whiskey 3 build in 6.5 CM than I ever was with my "boat anchor" Cadex in .308, but that's just me. Maybe I just need to spend more time in the gym, eh?

Ok I’m going to purchase a cadex full rifle…. What model to choose now, I’m thinking new s.t.a.r.s or R7 fcp… what would you choose? And what caliber

Depends on what you’re planning to do with it, if you could provide some additional context that would be helpful.

Czarface,
Same situation as you, bench shooting for now, 50 - 300m ranges.
On a 2 days training weekend with a Cadex ambassador I know, We (me and wife) both shot with a CDX -R7 SHP in .308 and a CDX-R7 FCP, also .308. They were both very accurate.
We decided on the CDX-XX Seven Stars in .308. Just picked it up this morning. Barrel come from Bartlein.
I Haven't decided on the scope yet and have other Cadex parts i'm waiting on.

Yes I have 100-300 at Sharon gun club and can’t see myself shooting further unless able to go to Base Boarden which I don’t even know if still available… anyhow I’m having a problem picking one but I’m thinking at going with a lighter platform

Seven stars in 308 would be my choice based on your feedback.

6.5cm is a good choice also but can be hard to find components or even factory ammo.

^^
I went with a .308 because of ammo availability. My mid-term goal is to get to 1000m, and would have gone with a 6.5. But .308 match ammo is always available in my area.
If and when the 6.5 CM availability get better, I'll get a second 6.5CM barrel for the Cadex.
