Franken-rem. Grizzly barrel, bolt assembly, trigger group and mag spring riding in a REM 870 receiver. REM mag cap.
Vice versa; the grizzly's receiver was TOO TIGHT to accept the 870 MM barrel. Due to the nickel plating, I was not about to "force the issue." The griz barrel slides right into the 870 receiver. I also noted that the mag cap was also too tight, again, due to the nickel finish, I didn't force it on. The barrel, trigger group and bolt assembly fit not problem and everything cycled and dry fired fine. If I had an "normal" 870, I may have been more "assertive" in my fitting, but it seems the griz receiver is machined pretty tight. Even the barrel, which fits nicely into the 870MM receiver, is a tight fit into the griz receiver. Interesting.
My 18" Police barrel won't fit into the Grizzly recevier either so I don't think it is the nickle teflon plating, the dimensions must be slightly tighter. Like you I didn't really try to force the issue. I did some swapping of trigger groups and bolts between a Wingmaster/Police, Express and the Dominion as well and all seemed to function fine with dummies.
Also my grizzly barrel indexes fine on the Wingmaster/Police.
Cheers
