I appreciate all the compliments, It is one of three guns I built from the same plank. The first a 1/2 stock Hawken marked 1 of 2. The third an English 1/2 stock rifle and this one marked 2 of 2 and yes I am having fun with it .

Years ago Taylor Sapergia built a few rifles from curly maple sourced in BC. Said it was a bit softer than the hard sugar maple that we usually get from the US but the figure was spectacular and he said it was VERY plentiful. As I can tell you would understand, working exceptionally figured wood is a BEAR to work with and even worse if it is softer so it is not for the faint of heart ( or the sane gunmaker)LOL.
