I have had a beautiful 70’s vintage BDL sitting in my safe for quite some time and finally decided to get out and try it. Looks like the rear sight will need to be removed in order to properly mount a scope. What is the best way to go about this before I start unscrewing and tinkering with things I’d like to keep this rifle un bubba’d?5D23EC84-5555-4C4F-BE31-85B44A977784.jpg114F6434-F1DE-4CB3-A9EC-48C72631D5CF.jpg

You can remove the sight and elevator first and see if that leaves you enough scope clearance, or remove the base which is held by two 6 x 48 screws that are under the sight and elevator. It appears like the head of the screw holding the sight is broken off... that is going to cause a problem.

to remove the sight and elevator once the ribbed sight adjustment piece is slid out do you use a brass punch to tap it out sideways?

It lifts out after the 'cross' screw is removed... if that screw head is broken off you are going to lose that sight... bend it up with pliers to gain access to the two screw that hold the assembly on the barrel.

Fold the sight aperture forward.
Install the scope base to the receiver.
Use medium or tall scope rings.

A Hubble telescope may require X-Tall rings
