New to Airdrie and Alberta looking for someone who could introduce me to some of the rifle ranges around the Calgary area. I’ve been a fish and game member for most of my life and shoot benchrest f-class matches in BC. I’m also an avid shotgunner and have shot a few events at the Carstairs club. I hunt and fish and enjoy camping and hiking with my wife and dog. I shoot 22lr 223 rem 6 br 7mm I also reload.

There’s a few short indoor ranges.

Straight shooters
Calgary shooting centre
Shooters edge

All only 25-50 yards.

Milo is a pain to get a membership to but has longer range outdoor stuff.

What caliber can be shot indoors?

You can shoot essentially anything indoors if you go to Calgary Shooting Center (25 yd range)
IMO you should just drive the 2 hours out to Hanna and buy a range membership at the Hanna Building Supplies store. 100$ membership (cash only) and they have a nice quiet seldom used range out to 300 yards.
Actually, Rocky Mountain House is much better. $150/yr and has every kind of facilities you'd hope for. Longer range out until atleast 600m also.

The CDTSA ranges (Milo and Sheperd) are nice, but I think the wait list is like 2 years now. Milo goes out to 500m, Sheperd is close to town and last I heard new members were only given access to Milo to start.
I had a membership at Calgary Shooting Center for a couple of years while I waited for CDTSA to let me in, nice range but only 25m. Great for pistols and PCCs though. I don't think they have any caliber restrictions, they didn't when I had a membership. Shooting Edge and Straight Shooters have indoor ranges as well, but never used them.
There are ranges in Kananaskis (Swiss club, BTSA, Full Bore etc) but don't know much about them. Drumheller needs a sponsor, and you need to get up around Red Deer and Hanna to find more.

If we're putting a two hour drive time in to the equation, then the taber range is what you want. World class set up with 100m , 300m, and 600m rifle ranges. Also, shotgun, archery, pistol, cowboy action, class room.

100 ish a year, and easy to get into.
