Walnut M1A's stocks available from Boyds

The Stocky's Stock is the Boyds from what I recall, he is simply a reseller.

I was charged for the stock $75, plus delivery approx $25, no other charge. It was delivered via USPS as I specifically asked for this. I paid taxes and a $5 brokerage, that was it. This $20 charge is new to me.

I don't think there was any mention of charges Canadians a couple of days ago, but it's there now.

My visa just showed the boyds charge, $115a/$118 cdn but I think thats air shipping, and I'll see whatever other costs pop up when i pick it up... and I hope the wood looks nice...

Not bad at all, 10 bucks one way or the other doesn't mean much. Getting these stocks in Canada at all is a big deal. I haven't even seen my M14 yet,(Its at home, I'm not) but I now have a replacement stock on it's way, thanks to this thread.

I'll post a pic of the stock, if it ever comes in... I appear to have been charged for air shipping, it must be the Wright brothers bringing it.

I just ordered mine around the time I posted about this, so it will probably be at least 2-3 weeks from then until it arrives. I'm eager to see how well it fits the action and if any major fitting is required. I'm anticipating having to remove the steel bedding and front ferule from the old stock.

I ordered a Walnut M1A stock yesterday from Boyd’s.
I placed the order with Dorothy. She said that she hopes Boyd’s will be making more M1A stocks in the future, but there are no guarantees...
Dorothy said they were always a good seller and that was and is the problem!! they could not keep up with the demand, so nobody was happy.....
Any way along with the stock I ordered a pepper laminated handguard, why you ask, well they are out of walnut, so I thought of nutmeg, but then I thought why not make my rifle stand out, might look stupid but at least I will know my rifle!!!
On a related topic I want to make a cheek rest out of the same pepper laminated wood, kind of like a Lee Enfield sniper. So the cheek rest will match the handguard on the walnut stock.
Will I have a hard time finding pepper laminated wood in Edmonton?
I love this addiction……………..
Have a great weekend,

Here are a couple of pictures. I did oil it with Birchwood Casey Tru Oil.

It has some dark areas, and a dark streak running through the forend. I think its a good stock for the money.

Got mine last night, I think it was held up at the border.
Here's the pics, it actually is a bit darker than the flash makes it appear. Could use a bit of sanding, has nice grain but has blemishes by the right side of the receiver. I haven't oiled it yet, it has irregular darkness, similar to grizzleypegs description. Customer service was good, freindly and prompt service when I called looking for it. There's a pic with the orig. wood for comparison. I'm happy with it.

Looks great. By the way, I used circlip pliers to unscrew the screws in the sides of the stock. Watch for the fit of the receiver on the right hand side beneath the rail, the wood may need relieving to get the receiver to sit fully down and level.

Hopefully I wasn't mistaken in the need to straighten the little metal fingers at the front of the metal stock liner to remove it from the old stock. I used pliers, then restaked them on the new stock with a metal pin driver and hammer, while resting the front of the metal stock liner on a block of steel.

Here is mine, it came in about 10 days, the price was great, and I see no problems with the quality. I guess I may have been lucky
