1911 barrel question

Hello I own a Colt MK IV series 80 in .45 ACP and I have read on the internet that you can purchase drop in barrels.
The two barrels that I am interested in are chambered for 38/45 Auto (a .45 ACP necked down to a .38 bullet) and the .400 Cor-Bon (a .45 ACP necked down to a .40 bullet) does anyone know where I would be able to purchase one or both of these barrels. I have read that with these barrels you only need to change the spring and everything else works fine.
Also has anyone used either of these calibers and how did you like it or dislike it?

Hi

Be aware that there are three lugs on the top of the barrel that are supposed to engage with the slide. There also is a critical dimension on the bottom of the barrel lugs.

I would strongly suggest making sure that the fit is correct before going out and doing a lot of high power shooting. 1911 slides and frames are not dimensioned tightly enough to guarantee a fit.

Match quality barrels are generally oversize in the lug and bushing area. The idea is to fit to the specific gun. Also as Hitzy pointed out, don't plan on 1000 rounds per hour at the loading bench. Good Luck with the project.

Hello thanks for the info I will keep it in mind.
I just find these cartridges interesting and thought that I would like to give them a try. I know that they will be more difficult to reload but I don't mind, and I don't do reloading just to put out lots of round quick. Actually I got rid of the progressive press that I had because I didn't care for it and just use a RCBS turret press or a RCBS single stage press for all the reloading that I do.
