What is the worst shooting rifle you ever owned....

My worst gun was a AR7 survival gun.I do a lot of bushwacking and hiking so I figured it would give me some, piece of mind, to have a gun that could, get me some, camp stew, if I was lost or injured. It shot about, 6 inch groups, at 25 yards, and jammed, almost, every second shot.I was very, happy to sell, that piece of garbage.I now take a slingshot that has, served me well, ever since.

Well, the least accurate rifles I've owned have *all* been military surplus guns. No surprise there though. I don't own any sporting rifles that can't shoot into an inch or so with the right load. Except maybe the rifles that I never *bothered* doing load work for. Like the BIG boomers; I don't really CARE if my 500 a-square can shoot into an inch at a hundred yards, and never shoot it from the bench. Ditto for the 458, 45-70, Ruger 44 carbine, etc.

Browning BAR in 30-06. With hanloads or factory ammo best I ever got was minute of barn

Gotta be the norinco SKS i picked up when i turned 18. I felt more confident with throwing rocks at 50 yds. Traded it in as a partial payment on a 220 swift, never felt bad about it.

Now, not to be a grammer dink, but i felt like i was Captain Kirk reading this as it is written, all the commas and such.:p

Wow! Must have been a lemon. My dad had one and it was super accurate for a pump.

Same here. My Remington 7600 in 30-06 shoots fantastic groups with 150 grn.
My worst shooter (but still a nice looking gun) is a Winchester Model 70 Featherweight in 30-06. First shot is pretty close to where you wanted it, after that it opened up further and further after each round....and talk about a hot barrel! 165 grn were definitely worse than 150 grn in that rifle. I think it had more to do with the slender barrel profile than anything else but it's now destined to become a 25-06 project with standard profile barrel.

P-14 rifle, nice looking, all matching, Mint bore,..... Bent barrel, atleast 3" at the muzzle.

Mosin m91/30, every shot stuck and you have to beat it open. Yes it was clean and it didn't matter what ammo of load.

Many years ago I acquired a Remington built M17 30-06 in a trade for some old used tires. When I took it out to shoot it, I thought maybe I had been conned, even though the tires couldn't have been worth over $30.00. That rifle shot horrible groups, wouldn't hit even near the same spot twice. Average was around 8" at 50 yards. I discussed it with another fellow who was fairly gun savvy, and he suggested the barrel might be oversized, and told me how to "slug" it to check. I get the lead slug in the barrel from the breech end and imagine my surprise when it got to within 2" of the muzzle, it just dropped out. Yep, had a sweetheart of a bulge at the muzzle end. Didn't take me long to chuck that sucker up in dad's lathe and knock 2½" off it and crown it square. Then put a 45º chamfering cutter in the tailstock and just relieved the inside a tiny bit. Eureka! this "dog" now shot 1½"-2" groups at 100 yards all day with anything you fed it. Regards, Eagleye.

Three contenders for that title....One of the early original Mini 14s, a new AR 180B, and a new Tikka T3 in 338 Mag.
My 870 pump would print tighter groups on any given day....

Remington 742 in 30-06. Absolutely the biggest POS I have ever had the displeasure of owning. The damn thing never did any better than putting 3 shots onto a pie plate at 100 paces.

I apologise for I cannot think of a single firearm that I have owned that did not shoot to expectation, even the cheap and nasties...fortunate I guess.

#1 - one of my French Berthiers, but I think I can improve it greatly and will try (front band was loose). Others shoot well.

#2 - Snider Enfield Cadet Carbine. Beyond hope - I tried everything. To be fair, it was made up for training, not fighting, is a Carbine and has shotgun type sights.
