7.62x39 sale at Cabela's

When the red box is on at $9.99 its hard to beat.
i got some last weekend

quite often you will see shipping go down to $49 minimum

I remember reading (on CGN) that there was some question about this ammo being non-corrosive in spite of how it's labelled. Anyone remember that conversation or the outcome?

I do not

They don't have a website and I'd bet they don't have free shipping on orders over $149 and those 30 rounds are likely corrosive surplus not new manufacture

Lol its cheaper in edson (invictus sports)
$13 for 30 rounds and its on stripper clips

The Norinco red box is different than the Chinese (corrosive) on stripper clips. The ones on stripper clips come in 1,100 round tin cans for around $450 to 500. Many dealers open it and sell them in smaller quantities.

It's new manufacture so it's fine.

That old stigma on Norinco ammo has got to be at least 25 years old and it still gets repeated by nimrods as gospel.

Norinco did screw up and mixed up corrosive primers back then and yes, some of that ammo is still out there. Check the manufacture dates on the boxes. Anything made after 2000 can pretty much be counted on as non corrosive.

With tax @ 13% that would be 0.49 / round. For corrosive.
With tax @ 13% the Nor would be 0.56 / round - Non corr.
I clean anyways and 2-3 min to run hot water thru = $ 1.40 / box saved.
I bought a 1440-case of Chi-surp last year for $612 (15% tax + 70 shipping-between sales) = $ 0.43 / round.
W/O shipping it would have been 0.37, and I've seen 'Sales' for even lower.
2 years ago I bought a case for ca $ 0.33.

Free shipping, non corrosive, I figured it was a decent buy.
Funny I posted the Browning labelled 9mm for 18 a box and people did the same as this thread.

Some people just can't be pleased.

This is not really the point.

The Chinese surplus is corrosive, yes, maybe not a big deal for you but some people have limited time to clean the same day.

To me, it is much important how the accuracy is and the red box Norinco is quite similar to the praised Barnaul in consistency. The way to achieve consistency is not some miracle, it is achieving similar ft/s results when measured with a chronograph, you don't have to shoot a lot, 5 rounds does it. They do it by putting the same powder charge in the casing and seating the bullet the same way, over and over again without variances.

Nice to see less expensive ammo
However, they "Cabelas" increased the price of the Weatherby Vanguard from $899 to $929 am sure this increase is going to be for all firearms.
